was a perfect marriage that never happened.

Ya, maybe. But Bowie was already injury prone when drafted. I mean he sat out an entire year at Kentucky.

Plus Clyde could easily play the 3.

But I get your thinking for sure. I have played the scenario over in my mind countless times.

Maybe Portland tries to trade Clyde for Sampson (knowing the Rockets were taking Hakeem).

lots of what ifs that would have drastically shaped the NBA in a different light.

They are the permanent kings of bad draft day decisions in hindsight.


All teams make them, but the Blazers stand out amongst the crowd.

^Does anyone remember LaRue Martin of the Blazers? Chicago school guy in the 70's. I can say one thing about LaRue, guy could take off flying at the top of the key and dunk the ball, amazing. Other than that, kid was a bust at center.

^ Of course LaRue was drafted ahead of HOFer Bob MacAdoo, who was latter coached by HOFer Dr. Jack Ramsey @ Buffalo. Ramsey went on to coach the Blazers to their 1st NBA title in 77'.

I bashed that trade when it happened and still do till this day. I wanted LMA, not Thomas.
