I know it's tough to separate the tourney from the regular season, but Michigan wasn't a top-flight B1G team. They were the #5 team in the B1G and got smashed in the first round of the tourney. The voting gets done after the Sweet 16, so no one knew anything about their run to the title game.
If you compare Napier's stats to Burke, you'll see that Napier has better stats, on a team that is likely heading to a 5 seed (Burke's Michigan was a 4). And while McDermott's schedule is better, the second best team they have played this year is probably Cal. It's not like he has played some world-beater schedule.
The more I think about it, the more I think I'd give it to Napier. He's actually more unselfish than McD (see his assist numbers, as well as the fact that he only played 18 minutes in their blowout against USF and only scored 7 points. McDermott would never take his kid out against a cupcake until he scored 20).

I'll make a bet with you come tourney time.
Done.
Maybe both teams will even be in the same bracket? That would be nice.
As far as accuracy is concerned though, Michigan was technically tied for 4th in the B1G last season and after hammering Penn State in the first round of the B1G Tourney, they lost to Wisconsin (regular season loss came by way of a couple desperation 3s to force and win in OT at the Kohl Center) by 8 in the quarterfinals.
I was at the Wisconsin-Michigan BTT tourney game. Stupid ignorance from me forgetting that the 5 seed no longer gets a bye in the BTT. Michigan last year was a lot like Wisconsin this year, but they didn't have the big OOC wins like we have.
The point was, though, they were a solid team, but not in another class compared to UConn this year. I've yet to hear a persuasive argument why Napier shouldn't win POY when three basic things appear to be true:
1. Napier 2014=Burke 2013
2. McDermott 2013> or = McDermott 2014
3. Burke 2013>McDermott 2013
If all three of those are true (and I think they are), logic dictates that Napier 2014>McDermott 2014.
Shabazz had a pretty poor game against UC a week and a half ago. He's a great player, but Kilpatrick is better.
Yeah, who would want a 6'7 guy that shoots 48% from beyond the arc (Wragge)?

It's a good thing i'm not talking about NBA players, hence why i said pac12 college players.
