LOL. I have to admit I really did lol at this. Is Amaro fucking retarded? (no offense to real retarded people). Is he really fucking worried that Byrd is going to be so good that at age 39 they won't be able to afford him unless they have that option to give him 8 million dollars? That can't be right. If it is I'd love to know who writes those contracts. It's stupid enough that he does all those player vesting options based on plate appearances or innings pitched with guys like Halladay and Utley but that one makes no sense at all. So if I understand this right, if by some miracle Byrd is having an MVP season in 2015 and he thinks he's going to be worth 15 million the next year in the free agent market, his best bet is to fake an injury so he doesn't get enough plate appearances to give the Phillies the option of signing him for 8 million.
