He's gone!

I speculated yesterday about Sullivan getting to do some fine tuning now that he's running the show. I bet he took one look at Scuderi and told JR he wanted him out ASAP.

Ask and you shall receive.

Really can't believe Rutherford managed to pull this off. Trevor Daley, while he hasn't been near as successful in Chicago as was probably hoped, is clearly an upgrade over Scuderi. He can skate, hit and he has a decent shot. And, he's four years younger than Scuds. I'll take it.

I suppose that Dupuis going onto the LTIR made all of this possible, as the Pens retain $1 million of Scud's contract for this year, and next, all the while adding on Daley's $3.3 million.

Daley isn't really a very good defensive dman...but he's not a POS on the ice like Scuds!

Agreed

Scuderi is done. He's probably going to be a healthy scratch and the 7th Dman in Chicago as I can't imagine what else Stan Bowman has in mind for him. JR getting rid of Scuds is a miracle.

Beau Bennett sure is. The hit he took from Oshie, while rough, happens probably 10 times a game. He just can't stay in the lineup. Maybe Sullivan will give Sprong a shot in the top six during his absence.

Fleury is the bigger loss, but it will be cool to see Murray. He's been one of the best AHL goalies the past two seasons. Hope Flower gets right, soon.

So Sprong sent back to juniors? What a disaster. GMJR has made some nice moves, some bad ones, but they all seem to be at random, with no coherent strategy or plan.

Also, excited to see Murray. Zatkoff isn't good at all.

Maybe they're punting the season and want to have him eligible longer as a result?

He definitely had some serious holes in his game defensively, and until he filled those, he wasn't going to get top six minutes, but because of them, he also really didn't fit in the bottom six.

^ Thats my only thought. I think they lose the first year of his entry level contract but still can't become a UFA sooner.

Yeah, he clearly wasn't ready to play big minutes, but they should have figured that out before he played 9 games. If they were going to keep him, he needed to play 10-14 minutes per night, and they weren't willing to play him that much. I have no problem with them deeming he wasn't ready, just the indecision, and poor asset management is my issue.

The big issue is he's not going to get better defensively in juniors, and he isn't eligible for the AHL next season which is where he should be, so it's a bad spot for his development.

What a nightmare of a season, and it keeps getting worse. At this rate we'll be the worst team in the NHL & Rutherford will trade our 1st round pick for that "missing piece" on the 3rd line :L
