I don't really see how Nebraska could be used as a "stepping stone" seeing that they're among the top football programs in history.

Unless his alma mater was where he wanted to coach and they had about the same amount of history/success as N.
But other than that, no way N is a stepping stone.

Yea I've said all along I believe Pelini wants to build a dynasty......he always talks about how much of a role model Tom Osborne is to him, I think he wants to follow in Osbornes footsteps.

Tell that to Tennessee fans, that UT isn't a stepping stone program....

I love to hear Pelini say that, as I have always feared he may leave for tOSU....But hopefully we have Pelini for as long as we had Dr. Tom.

1st, any good head coach has to say that, otherwise the fans will turn on him.
2nd, does anyone think he would be a good fit for OSU? Do you think they would allow and embrace his outburst like we do here? I don't think so.

My personal opinion, Nebraska football program >>>>>>>>> UTENN.
So doesn't USC, so I could see why Kiffin used them as one to get to SoCal.

If you told me before this past year that UTENN was a stepping stone job I would have laughed. The program has only had 2 coaches in like 50 years.

Nobody actually thought Lane Kiffin was planning on building something at Tennessee though did they?

I mean that was just a no-brainer as far as I was concerned. The guy is just a different coach than Pelini. He doesn't coach with integrity.....hell he was only there for one season before violating recruiting rules....

To me it instantly looked like a rebound job for Kiffin so he could bounce back and find a better job.

Every coach has a dream job. Kiffin IMO went to Tenn with the idea of coaching the Vols for good run but sometimes things fall into place maybe when we least expect it. I tick off an employer of mine down in Texas after working less than two months when a friend call and said lets start the bis. we've been discussing. I told my boss the next day I was leaving the at the end of the week he was pissed off and he had a right to but he also knew why I was doing the thing my friend and I where going to start and that was my dream I always wanted to be my own boss. It's been for the best thing I ever did. I don't blame Lane Kiffin for what he did and those Tenn fans shouldn't either. Life happen and you got to do what is gonna make you happy and sometimes being selfish is just what you have to do.

It seems hard to find any loyalty with coaches these days, Alabama will feel pretty foolish when they put up a statue of Saban and then he leaves in a year or two. Hopefully not the case with Bo, he appears to have a great deal of integrity, but only time will tell. What I do wonder is how long we will be able to keep Carl around after the success they have had in only a few short years, and without a top ranked recruiting class every year like some of the spoon fed programs.

Pelini never did say he wouldn't leave..He just said NU isn't a stepping stone program..
I'd only need to see him turn down Ohio St and $4,000,000 to be absolutely sure he's here for the long haul.

And the Buckeye fans were begging for Bo after the "D" steped up against Texas and Arizona. They were asking for Tressel's head because their "D" wasn't as good. tOSU fans would take Bo in a heartbeat...

Even Texsux fans bleed Red!
