Allright, I might need the help of the Resident Nerd, Darkstone, for this one. My sister is taking Chemistry in high school and asked me for help. I hardly remember anything from high school before junior year, much less anything science related! So if anyone can help me help her with her chemistry, it would be much appreciated!

Sorry, I disappeared for a couple days while moving into my summer room and what not, but I'm back.

High school chemistry, what's she learning? I don't know if I can do thermodynamics without partial derivatives anymore. =P

I have no idea what that means, but she's learning it. Also elecrolytes and compounds relationship, and dissociation. Thanks Dark, that is if you can help!

I sent you a PM. If you read it and respond accordingly, I should be able to help. But this forum isn't exactly designed for chemistry tutoring.

just kidding. chemistry is fuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Haha, it can be. I'm not going to lie, sitting around doing problems and derivations isn't particularly exciting, but working in the lab on actual research projects can be fun. I'm having a ton of fun at my job in a lab so far this year. Today I quantified the concentrations of DNA and RNA sequence solutions with a temperature control spectrometer, and then prepared a stock solution of pH 7 cacodylate buffer. It's just neat that I very well may get published before the summer's end.

=)

yea i could not stand it in high school until we were able to actually do the labs. i awlays seemed to learn better by doing instead of just reading about it.

It's just words, numbers and symbols when you're learning it from a book. It means something when you do it in lab. It has meaning, it's practical, and it seems to actually be valuable.
