I know someone who did similar with panels for shower surrounds, he sprayed them with silicone for extra friction reduction, but his kid isn't going to be dragging hundreds of dollars worth of pads across it. He's a center. His shot is pretty wicked.


And for the record, my kid will be using old pads for this. But still.



I have already instructed my son to never, ever talk to any bald man with glasses, especially if said bald man wants to know about the coaches' he's played for.

So, my son is on as a "Practice Only" player with a club team. He will not play any games for them unless shit goes really bad. They have three goalies already. One senior, one Junior and one Freshman. My son is just going to practice with them and work with their goalie coaches. They have one specific goalie practice per week and 4 team practices. Last night was his first team practice. He'd been to the goalie practices the last 3 weeks.

Two of the goalies are girls, and their locker room is in a different place. So, the explanation that the "new goalie" wasn't going to take anyone's job apparently didn't make it to them. One of the girls hadn't been to the goalie practices at all. She was very concerned about his presence last night. The skaters all tried to tell her not to worry and one of them told her he would make my son "cry" in practice.

Also, my son wears a jersey for practice that I bought for 5 bucks in a Play It Again sports in Michigan. It says "USA Hockey U15 Select Camp" on it. I bought it because it was goalie cut. He came out of the locker room , and he's 6 foot 2, they were looking at that jersey. One asked another what U15 Select meant and someone said "holy fuck... That's like National team shit". Nope, that's just a cheap jersey.

They did a full ice breakaway drill, and my boy stopped that kid who was "going to make him cry" 4 straight times, the last one being such that the kid looked up at the sky and screamed in frustration.

The goalie coach did explain to all the goalies why my boy was there and there were fist bumps and stick taps going around by the end. I just thought it was all kind of funny. And my oblivious kid, had no idea any of it was going on. I told him he's going have to "talk to a girl" and make sure they know he's not trying to take their job.

Problem for him is, they are both kind of cute.
