Predicting a Gold Medal game between USA and AUS.

Wow, Spain will not be in the Gold medal game, after 2 consecutive Olympics.

Argentina is old but its no coincidence the team played much better with Lowry taking more minutes from Irving. Really, the biggest adjustment (finally K does something) was decoupling Irving and Cousins. The two are unplayable since they are so dreadful on defense. We played Lowry with Cousins and Irving with Jordan while also using Green as center this game and that helped out a ton. Worked in Butler into the game more as well. Maybe the team has finally found a balance that'll work. It also helps that KD decided to show up and take a game seriously

Are you watching the games?

Kyrie was better against France, but he is not leading this team anywhere. He is part of the problem. He is stopping the ball constantly in the half court. Most of his 12 assists came on broken plays and in transition, where he is great.

I understand the part about having the same group but I'm really not sure when they play. Especially the teams in South America. Its the World Championships, Olympics, and maybe they play 1 more tournament than we do

It's not just that. It's also that their rosters don't change much. Team USA's roster has significant changes every time. These other countries don't. Look how long the Gasol brothers have played for Spain, Manu and Scola for Argentina, Parker for France, etc. etc. Those are just the NBA guys. They also get most of the same guys who are playing in other professional leagues around the world to play for them every year as well.

You think KD's just not playing serious ball lately?

Melo, Durant, Cousins, George, Derozan, Lowry, Irving all have that "too many chefs in the kitchen" vibe going on. The reason the last teams were MORE successful was because you had guys like Iguodala, Lebron, CP3 and others facilitating for others.

Too many chefs in the kitchen is why GS will fail this year. Also Klay shooting 30% in the Olympics isn't helping USA.

GS really only have 2-3 chefs in the kitchen. 3 is being generous. It is more like 2

So team USA game is 230 EST on Friday. Why would you put it at that time? I'm freaking livid. Why not put Australia/Serbia at that time and have USA/Spain at 6 PM. Makes no damn sense. Unfreaking believable

the last 4 days of the games(including today) are a must watch. why? because the games are ending. not only that, but sunday are the closing ceremonies meaning we must prevent a ratings disaster by watching the ceremonies since theyre competing with WWE summerslam and most of all "Fear the Walking Dead".

It's really only 2 because Steph and KD will have the ball in their hands the majority of the time. Draymond is a secondary handler and passer off the P&R, and Klay doesn't create his own offense and will be coming off screens, which he normally does anyways.

People are way over thinking this. Klay and Draymond do NOT have to change their roles at all. Steph is the one who will have to adjust with not having the ball as much. But then you have Steph coming off screens more for open shots? Oh my.

If you honestly took a realistic comparison of the Thunder team last year, and the Warriors team this coming year, basically what you did was substitute Klay Thompson for Andre Roberson. You think if the Thunder had a lineup of Westbrook, Klay, Durant, Ibaka and Adams, they wouldn't have won the whole thing? Now instead you have Curry, Klay, Durant, Green and Pachulia.

Australia/Serbia is probably the better (closer) game.

That doesn't matter. If they were so concerned about putting the best game on, USA would play at 1 PM every day

Where did he say their shot attempts will be the same? Point is they only have 2 players who really need the ball in their hands often and that is Durant and Curry. Green & Klay role will remain the same when it comes to their role in the offense.

Still searching for where in this post where @CitySushi said all 4 players will get the same amount of shot attempts as attempted last season.

Of course it will change. Each player will have to take a few less shots, but not enormously so. By your numbers Steph, Klay, Draymond and Durant would require 66 shots. Well last year, Steph, Klay, Draymond and Barnes took a combined 57. That's only 9 additional shots need to be found somewhere. Add to the fact that bench will be staggered, there's no question those 9 additional shots get found. If Steph, Klay and Durant sacrifice 2 shots a piece, that's only 3 more shots we're looking at.

But the main thing that I think people are missing is it's not the volume of shots that are needed by each player, but production. The looks that each of them is going to have is going to be so much better than last year, that Steph and Durant won't need 20 and 19 shots respectively to put up similar numbers. OKC ran an ISO heavy offense, which the Warriors run counter to. The best shot is going to be taken, regardless of who takes it.

Some games Steph is going to have 12 shots Durant 14 Shots and Klay 20. Others will have Steph 20, Durant 18, Klay 12. etc, etc.

There's not going to be a shot formula for this team. This team is as selfless a bunch as you'll see for a team full of superstars. The only one arguably who's unlikely to pass more would be Klay, but at the same time he doesn't create for himself or have the ball in his hands much, so it's not a problem. Klay's also never been much of a passer.

So short answer to your question: Quality>Quantity of shots = Similar or better production.
