Step 1) Fire VG and bring in a Big name DC. Go for it all here. No more small hires. Do what Bama did by hiring Kiffin.
Step 2) Let Sanford have more control of the offense especially in the red zone and 2 pt conversions.
Step 3) Still improve special team coverage and returns.(better this year then last).
Step 4) Just for the hell of it bring in a Top recruiter. Not saying we arent getting top players I just want to go for this kill.
To be honest thats all we really need. Im happy with alot of other things. WR, RB, TE and Qb position is Deep next year. Continue to build on the Dline and secondary.

I think you might be able to do step 1 and 4 in the same move by hiring a great recruiting DC.

at least Kelly is starting to hire coaches that have no ties to him in the past. I really like Iowa's defensive coordinator Phil Parker. I don't know if he would leave Iowa though since he has been there since 1999.

Not sure either he seems to get the most out of his players which the same can't be said about BVG.

something tells me that this bowl game will be telling for Van Gorder's future at Notre Dame. If we come up with a good game defensively who knows, if we play poor defense I think we'll be searching for a new coordinator.

don't forget we get our starting TE back for this game. Since his injury the TE position was non existing in the passing game.

This gets me a little nervous. Texas looked better ending the year and ND loses some key players. Should be a much closer game then this year.

We haven't even played our bowl game and we're already panicking about next season's opener? Relax guys, you don't know who we lose, who we keep, who we gain, or who Texas keeps, loses or gains. Then, we have to survive the nonsense from the off-season that seems inevitable as of late. Then we have summer camp to see who breaks what.

Then we can start to panic about TX.

I'll start worrying when BVG is still on the team after spring... otherwise, not.
If BVG survives to NSD, then that's a sure sign he's not going anywhere. Kelly likely won't fire him, but if he gets an opportunity to take another job, he will be encouraged to pursue it.

if injuries don't derail this team next year, the 2016 notre dame team will be the best team in the country on paper in my opinion

or Kelly is smart and wait after NSD so no one leaves.

I would agree with the offense but not the Defense. D will struggle early.
