Just a total gut punch that its the Angels of all teams. Poorly run organization that just has good shit fall into their fucking laps.

Now Twins just signed one of them today.

According to MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez, former Braves prospect Yunior Severino will sign with the Minnesota Twins.

Sanchez reports that the deal is worth $2.5 million dollars. Severino was one of the prospects who saw their contract terminated as punishment for Atlanta agreeing to illegal contracts and contact with players. The 18-year-old hit .270/.345/.420 at three different stops in the Atlanta organization in 2017.

I really don't care that we didn't get him because I truly believe he will be good at both but not great at either (hitting and pitching). But to lose 3 of their top 10 prospects from a weak field is a killer. Not to mention all the time and energy wasted on his chase when they could have signed the Braves kids that were released. Now Twins just signed one of them today.
Exactly...

I'll give Dipoto some credit for trying, he really sold out.

  • The Rangers and Yankees (and, now, also the Mariners), notably, have a whole lot of IFA bonus pool space free if Martinez becomes available before this period ends on June 15:

Top Cuban OF prospect Julio Pablo Martinez had an impressive workout in front of scouts this morning at the @Dodgers complex in Guerra, DR. He ran the 60 in 6.3 seconds and home-to-first at 3.75 seconds. Rangers and Yankees among those in attendance.@MLBPipeline

Maybe we can trade our international money to Angels for Trout so they can pay Ohtani more money? Make the call JD.

Fire dipoto! He just screwed this team to save his job and failed. He gambeled and lost.

But...

Who would take over a franchise who went from a bad farm system to a nonexistent farm system, an aging team with maxed out payroll, and a history of disappointment and longest nonplayoff streak? We have been doomed for 35 out of 40 seasons and the future looks the same for the next 40.

I knew Ichiro factor would play in. Why didn't Diphead not know this?

I am satisfied with the position players, but the Mariners still need two new starting pitchers for when Paxton and Felix inevitably go down.

Agreed, but will never get over the fact he gave away 3 prospects that we can't afford to lose. I thought Ohtani's group made it clear that money wasn't a factor (he dismissed teams with highest money before the meetings began), but yet he deemed it necessary to obtain more before even knowing if they were the team? Why didn't he just wait to see if they were picked and then make deals for $$$?

Maybe he thought that if he landed a bit more international spending money that could be the difference.

That is my point. A guy turned down hundreds of millions to come here, then turns down the teams with the most international money, and whose reps say money won't be a factor (he met with Dodgers who had $300K to spend) but Dip thought he could buy him with a measly few extra bucks? He just doesn't get it. Money wasn't the factor and it turned out not to be the factor.
