Doesnt tommy john surgery take more than a year to recover from? Closer to two years I have heard?
Or is it different between pitchers & QBs? Does anyone know?
Until we know the exact extent of the injury its all heresay. Has it been reported as a full tear, ie Tommy-John?

Doesn't matter because he won't be recovering to game shape.

Too long to heal, too old. Ben has never been a well conditioned player, either. You think his head is fat now? Just wait.

Roethlisberger passed the ball 1,236 times over the last 2 seasons... Tomlin was intent to ride Bell until the wheels fells off, then he held out and he rode Ben's wheels off instead.

Bump... Needs to be beaten to death

I figure for ben this is career ending.
I am just thinking of the injury itself for a QB vs. pitcher. my understanding is it takes forever to recover from.

Exceeded for me. Got a HOF QB who brought two championships to the city.

Not many teams get something like that. Easily the best player of that draft. IMO.
yeah, id say exceeded too. my only gripe is that ben/brady should have been a much larger rivalry than it was.

Yep, and arm strength is something Ben's always relied on. Take away his rockets? Look at what it did to Peyton.

I wish. We were always your Browns, instead.

Speaking of Peyton is his forehead even bigger in retirement?

Mason had a few nice deep passes. I do like his arm.

question for you:

was bens career below expectations, did he meet them, or did he exceed them?
Exceeded, especially as a passer. His first few years I never would have seen him hitting 5,000 yards or rising above game manager who could execute comebacks

Would've liked to have seen one more title or beaten Brady in the playoffs but two still puts him in elite company.

Wait a minute. What were the Dolphins then?
I mean the Steelers have been to the Patriots what the Browns have been to the Steelers for the last... 15 years.

A reliable tackling dummy.

Played in 3 SBs, won 2....I'd be lying if I didn't expect to have 7 SBs by now, but after thinking about this for a few minutes.

The last championship caliber DEF Ben had was the 2011 season, and they were old and slow on the backend. Every since PIT moved on from LeBeau and Tomlin/Butler took over the DEF, they have suspect schemes and big holes on DEF. Ben kept them competitive, but edge pressure, CB and S play have never come back up to a SB caliber DEF.

As assuming Ben's career is indeed a wrap I'd say he met them.

2 titles and his numbers get him in easily. heck of a career.

well, he was pretty rock solid for almost 15 yrs and won 2 out of 3 superbowls, so i'd say he exceeded expectations, given that the previous 20 yrs worth of Steeler qb's before Ben was....less than stellar, to say the least.

Yeah, it was hell.

Pittsburgh was QB hell before Ben. For two decades.

A little harsh but I can take it. [Note to self. Stay away from Kaep jokes.]

But now I'm serious. Does Ben retire? Apologies if this has already been discussed.

It all depends on the money. There is a lot of money on the line here. Ben just signed an extension.
