Redoing Eskridge deal means the Seahawks are trying to squeeze as much cap space as possible as even a half million matters to them. Sounds like the Lockett new deal will save a bundle.

An interesting option that shouldn't cost a ton. Ben Solak was saying this would be a great move for us on his pod

Lockett just got restructured and saves Seattle a TON of cap this year. I think Tyler just did this team a solid... he will be MASSIVELY expensive in 2025 (season) but I think at this point there's a 'handshake agreement' that Seattle would let him go, with a minimal dead cap hit.

They said the max value totals 34 million so doesn't sound like he will be expensive in 2025.

I didn't get into the details beyond 2024, but it sounds like the 2025 cap hit would be crazy, but we can cut Lockett no problem (and then if we want resign him for something cheaper unless another team offers more).

So many safeties available via FA... Like RB's, they're value is declining... Safeties that were released so far - Simmons, Kevin Byard, Eddie Jackson and Jordan Poyer, Jamal Adams, Eddie Jackson, Quandre Diggs and Rayshawn Jenkins also were cut this week and Marcus Maye is designated for a post-June 1 release from the Saints.

Lots of talent out there... Outside the huge salaries, I can see why the Hawks considered releasing BOTH Adams/Diggs... HC may see someone out there that fits his defense a bit more better...

Always forget about this thread... I posted this in another thread... Love this restructure as I still he's still a very good value/player for us on the field and in the locker room...

A lot of those safeties were big contracts and now on the wrong side of 30.

I would love for the Hawks to get Simmons would was more a victim of a team rebuild than declining play. He was 2nd team all pro last year

That would be huge... we definitely have a hole at ILB and that would at least solve one of the openings. I wouldn't mind resigning Wagner to a cheaper contract, but we cannot march that guy out there for the number of snaps we did last season. He was lookin' pretty worn down towards the end of the season. I'll be curious to see what MacDonald does with Brooks (if he even wants him).

Not a fact yet but sounds like close to 14 million saved against the cap.

Appears so. Spotrac/Overthecap haven't updated anything yet. I'd assume tomorrow they'll have the full details. Even $10M or so though would give us about $50M in cap to play with... and without needing to worry about Diggs/Adams next year, I'd assume Seattle can go after some bigger names.
