Pete Alonso avoided broken bones in his hand. He was hit on the right hand while batting in the 2nd inning.
X-rays on the Mets first baseman came back negative the Mets announced.

Starling Marte was diagnosed with left quad tightness after a stolen base attempt in the 1st.

Both will undergo further imaging on Wednesday.

I mean silver lining Walker at least gave us 6 innings. If you're not going to have your best stuff one night at least eat up some innings for the bullpen.

Assuming no more major injuries it still looks like bullpen is our biggest glaring weakness followed by getting another big bat in this lineup. Seems like we live and die with Pete driving in runs.

Trainer's Room....

Mets: Alonso and Marte got promising diagnoses. Both are hoping to avoid the injured list and could be back in a matter of days. Alonso was hit in his right hand by a pitch Tuesday, but X-rays and a CT scan showed no fractures. The slugger is tied for the NL lead with 16 homers. Marte left Tuesday night's game with quad tightness but said he was feeling better. The Mets are off Thursday before opening a three-game series at the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.


Up Next....

The Mets hadn't yet announced a starter for Friday night against the Angels.
RHP Tylor Megill could be an option as he returns from the injured list...and some brief work in the minors.
