battle of the backups.
Lack vs McElhinny (his first game since 2011)

both teams played yesterday, each member of the BeastModo line played more than 24 minutes yesterday).
Nucks with a decent looking PP early, Higgins misses yet another golrious chance
then BJ's draw first blood*.
Nucks used to coming from behind. no wait that doesn't sound right either.

*BJ and blood should never be in the same sentence.

Doob's view
Both teams got their backups in so it will be interesting to see if they struggle. Also, Canucks coach, John Tortorella, and Blue Jackets' winger, Marian Gaborik, didn't see eye to eye last season with the Rangers. This resulted in Gaborik getting traded and Tortorella getting fired. Additional drama to the game.

Doob picks the Canucks to win 3-2.

Looks like Gaborik got some early revenge on Tort's team, putting the BJ's up 1-0.

McElhinney & Co. has got the Blue Jackets up 1-0 in spite of being outshot 12-2.

Welsh has looked good after three shifts. (well, was a -1, but had two memorable good shifts)
which is an improvement from previous 4th line games
I thought he was a slower player than what he has looked so far. see if it keeps up

shots 13-2 after 1. If they keep this up, they will be OK.
if CBJ continues this defensive coverage, they will be more than OK

I don't mind seeing Boll take a slapshot off the back of the ankle from one of his meathead linemates.
CBJ's 4th line won that shift convincingly however.

Boll is nowhere near as annoying as Dorsett though - Glad that asshat is with the Rangers now.

Jackets got screwed there, Wiz gets hooked no call at one end, at the other, Henrik pushes Tabasco and the puck into the net, ruled a good goal.

1-1

ugh. two consecutive over the glass calls gives CBJ a 5 on 3
second one was Edler with a snap shot over the far glass from his own zone.

now that they have killed off the 5 on 3, I can safely say that Jack Johnson sucks.
great toe save by Lack at the end of the PP

I had no idea that Van Assenhoven had X-Ray vision.

Of course, that's probably why he had the whistle at his lips when he pointed. Because he COULDN'T see through Tabasco's pads.

I was relieved on the first Delay of Game call. Thought for sure that Johansen was gonna go for plowing through, elbows akimbo.
