Meanwhile, that was pretty close to a regular season edition of the Oilers and quite frankly, that's a team headed to the lottery once again...

Vancouver's squad barely qualified for league restrictions on sitting veteran players in exhibition games. League rules state you have to dress a minimum of nine veterans with 100 games played and/or former first-round draft picks. The Canucks were able to meet the standard due to the presence of six players in the match who are attending their camp on professional try-outs; Legace, Nolan, Anders Eriksson, Steve Begin, Fedoruk and Niko Dimitrakos

"That was a tough lineup to coach against." - Tom Renney

It makes me wonder how long Oilers ticket holders will continue to pay NHL prices for an AHL product...

If Renney thinks that lineup was tough the regular season is going to be a nightmare to watch for Oilers fans.

yumpin yimminy... these were our qualified vets in that game

Here are the eligible veterans from the lineup Vancouver sent to Edmonton on Thursday: Ryan Parent, Andrew Ebbett, Nolan Baumgartner, Alexander Sulzer, and Eriksson, Fedoruk, Nolan, Dimitrakos, and Legace.

Of those veterans, last season, only Ryan Parent played a game with the Canucks (he played four in total), and only Alexander Sulzer played in 30 games. The rest make the cut by virtue of having played 100 or more NHL games in their career, despite none of those games taking place last season.
