Oil dressing a pretty close to regular season line-up

Smyth-RNH-Eberle,
Hall-Gagner-Pitlick,
Paajarvi-Horcoff-Omark,
Hordichuk-House-Petrell

Canucks sending nothing but prospects, plumbers and tryouts.
Legace gets the start.
Hodgson, Eriksson, Nolan, Ebbett, Schroeder, Mancari, Pinizzotto
Fedoruk, Baumgartner, Dimitrakos...

let Edm collect the W's in Sept

Might as well drop this here (courtesy of jstew):

Ben Kuzma tweet:
A dozen projected Oiler roster players in lineup tonight. Canucks will ice four at best.

Dan Murphy tweet: (turn sarcasm detectors on)

I can't believe that AV is MAKING Cody Hodgson play for the 2nd game in a row. How much more can the young man take from this organization

Duco hammers Taylor Hall into the endboards, they have words, Ryan Smyth steps in, Duco and Smyth start to go, and then Theo Peckham jumps in.

It's a brou-ha-ha...

What I have learned in the first period:

Oilers' starting line-up is pretty competitive with an AHL team
Eddie Lack is a pretty damned good goalie

It may be early in the pre-season, but I think RNH could use another year of junior hockey...

Owen Nolan is still alive?

And scoring like a champ.

Although he's had two opportunities in the past two game to call his shot and hasn't done it.
Missed the net both times, too. The old bastard.

He looks younger than Ryan smythe though

LMAO!!

Well Oilers fans were told it was going to take some time. I think it's going to take longer than they thought.

this

He looked faster and stronger out there. Made some very nice passes as well.

yup ... what impressed me most was he looked very good in his own zone ... almost like a veteran checker ... best play was when he drew the penalty on Hall ... dug the puck out ... used quick hands and feet to turn it around to move the puck out and drew the trip

looks like he got the AV message (and most importantly he's healthy) ... attention to detail defensively first, work hard, and the offense will come
