I think it will be Keith, but it should be a close race.

Weber? Didn't see that coming.

Personally would go with Keith. He does everything soooo well. Can't be upset if it goes to Chara though.

You can make a case for any one of them to win

Duncan Keith should win hands down, and I'm not biased even a little bit.

I wouldn't agree if Weber won I don't think has was as good as the other 2 this year. I would have put Pietrangelo ahead of him.

Shea Weber had 20+ goals and still played strong defense, for a d-man to score over 20 goals and still be strong defensively is as rare as it gets

I thought he was good I just don't think he was as good as the other 3, granted the team he played on obviously didn't help.

I don't know if I'd nominate a defenceman who finished the season a minus.

Pietrangelo, Niskanen, Bouwmeester, Seabrook, Vlasic and Beauchemin could all have been considered.

Heck, even Suter. Dude averaged nearly 30 minutes a night, scored 40 pts and was +15.

I was hoping Niskanen would get a look...but then again, I'd like that he not completely price himself out of Pittsburgh, soooooo...

Of course no MacTruck but I assumed that. He will eventually get it, but not yet.

Think Keith takes it home and agree with 43 about Suter being in over Weber.

From a distance it looks like Keith's to win. However, not sure how a Norris winner can go to a guy who doesn't play his teams toughest minutes - meaning he isn't in the D-pairing that faces his opponents top line. Chara (and most top D-men) are on the ice vs the opponents best players.

Well for this award, they seem to care about having the most points, which takes away from the actual reward itself. It's stupid.

I've thought for a long time that they need to create a Bobby Orr trophy for best all around defenseman.

Leave the Norris for the guys that stop the other team's top guys without caring whether they score or not.

Agreed on both counts.

I don't like this award since it favors the offensive side of the game. It's not what the award is meant to be for.

I hope Keith brings it home.

But no love for Drew Doughty?

His games are on too late for guys who vote on this award to watch...

Call me crazy, but I think Chara gets more credit than he deserves.

Outside of Keith, since I'm biased, I'd take Doughty over any other D man

No doubt that Doughty is in that elite group of defenseman that have the ability to control/set the tempo of a game. Lidstrom has it, and Chara, Keith, and Doughty have it.

/Elliotte Friedman made an interesting point the other night on CBC, he said take a look at the recent Stanley Cup winners, they have all had an elite defenseman (and he's right, maybe Pittsburgh in '09 being an exception)
