Yeah...like when they miss holding, hands to the face, face mask, and muggings...errr..I mean pass interference.

supposedly, each official is 'graded' after each game and then they are supposed to work on improving their mistakes .... if they continue to get failing grades long-term then they are supposed to be fired .... unfortunately, it rarely happens

if you are firing people for missing calls you will fire 6 or 7 a year at least.

no, i don't believe an official should be fired for missing one call .... supposedly, they are graded each week .... i believe there are probably some officials that aren't getting very good grades consistently (if it is done honestly) ... if there is a pattern of bad grades for a certain official, he should be fired.

As per the link:

That call was not the only one that Cruz missed, and the report says one source described Cruz as not “maintaining a very high level of performance over a sustained period.” So this firing was not about one call, although that blatant bad call may have been the last straw.

So this went well beyond one call. If this truly was based on poor performance over a sustained period of time then this is probably justified.

This will come back on the NFL as some kind of racial inequality.

Of course, had to be... probably had multiple warnings and bad gradings before it got to this point. Much like the real world with write-ups suspensions etc etc. Although this is the NFL, they really aren't known for crossing their t's and dotting their i's. I suppose more will come to light when the NFL Referees Association goes through the grievance process.

So it had to be for more then missing a false start. There was a pretty bad missed face mask last night

Yeah, the guy that got fired must have made a lot of mistakes over a long period of time and this was just the last straw

Wait you mean to tell me if someone doesnt do their job properly you can be fired?

Only if they're white these days....Otherwise, they are racist, colluding or acting inappropriately...
Down those lines somewhere.....Sad but true !!!
