There have been hundreds of instances, throughout the league, where management was chiefly responsible for ruining players, especially QBs. I'm not sure if Fields can regain what Chicago took from him, but at least he's in a place where he has a chance to be "that guy."

The Bengals are going to have to pay J. Chase and that salary will be at the time of signing the highest in league history for a wide receiver.
For some perspective...As of May 16, 2024, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiverA.J.Brown is the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL with an average salary of $32 million per year. Brown recently signed a three-year, $96 million contract extension with the Eagles.

Tee Higgins has no interest in resetting the market for receivers, but the veteran is hoping to be paid his worth. Higgins, who reportedly reaffirmed his desire to be traded last week, was initially looking for a deal that was similar to the three-year, $70 million extension Michael Pittman recently signed with the The Bengals haven't come close to the $20 million-per-year range for Higgins, per the report.

Again, more perspective...this year, the franchise tag is worth $21.816 fully guaranteed. Regardless of whether he stays in Cincinnati or finds a new team, they have reset his asking price. Higgins, thus far is refusing to sign that initial tag and Cincy has a shrinking amount of time to sign him to a contract extension (July 15th deadline)
Higgins is 25 years old and his best years are still ahead of him.

I wonder what adding Higgins or Aiyuk and Backhtiari would do for this team?

I wonder what adding Higgins or Aiyuk and Backhtiari would do for this team?
If David Bakhtiari is anywhere close to his former self and can stay relatively healthy, his addition along with Higgins puts this team in the "can they become the next NFCE champion in 2024" talk among talking heads. Additionally, the speculation and pressure surrounding Jayden's ability to be the class of his class intensifies as more talk about the talent on this team increases.
Finally, with regards to the league... there's going to be playoff talk as either a division winner or a wildcard participant.
What will they actually do with and without these additions? Sorry, I'm not going to post that until our annual "Season Predictions" exercise takes place near or after the pre-season ends.
