Angels fans touches Mets right fielder Curtis Granderson during play

ANAHIEM -- In a tie ballgame while focusing on J.B. Shuck’s fly ball as he backed into the right-field corner at Angels Stadium, Curtis Granderson was surprised when a fan reached over the fence and touched him on the back.
“I was startled, shocked,” the Mets right fielder said. “It was the first time it’s ever happened to me.”
After making the catch and with the ball still in his hands, Granderson turned around to see who had touched him.
“When I turned around, he said, ‘I didn’t mean to,’” Granderson said of replays showing the two talking after the incident.
“Just don’t touch me, say whatever you want to say, boo, cheer, clap, cheer for you team, just don’t physically touch the players,” Granderson said he told the fan.
Granderson said security on the field is an issue.
“You never know what was going on,” Granderson said. “It was startling.”
