Of course there are risks but I can't say they overspent. They finally went after a position of desperate need an area where they have yet to develop anyone as opposed to a middle infielder and a closer. At least to me I'd rather take a high risk high reward type guy as opposed to low risk and low reward guy.

Absolutely, especially when we're in a position where we already have some key positions locked down and reliable.

It would be different if we didn't have an MVP candidate at 2B, a gold glove All Star at 3rd, and the best pitcher in the AL leading our rotation but we do, and being on the upswing as a team is the perfect time to take a calculated risk at throwing a little extra at the perfect guy for your position of need in order to get him.

According to MLBTR, someone has offered Chase Headley a 4year/$65 million deal. Chase Headley. Unreal. I guess his suitor is banking that his one good year in 2012 is more typical of his potential than his six mediocre years in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014? Andrew Miller has a 4 year/$40 million offer. He isn't a closer. He isn't even a setup man. He's only had 41 holds total over the last four years. With this kind of absurd money being thrown around, how can any writer say that Nelson Cruz is a bad contract for the Mariners? What the fuck?

Andrew Miller may not have the numbers yet but that guy is absolutely filthy. Left handed relievers have always commanded a lot. Miller happens to be a really good one.

You guys love to freak out.

Seager just signed for 7/$100M. Nelson Cruz just signed 4/$58M. Cano has 10/$210, Felix(not sure what his numbers are)

Why would Jack Z offer Headley a large contract? It makes no sense. From now on if he makes any more moves it will be through trades.

Who said Jack should offer Headly a large contract? I think your reading comprehension is failing you.

And yet we're rumored to be willing to open the wallet for Melky as well.

Yeah, nobody said anything about Headly coming here.

Miller has too many episodes when he couldn't hit the ocean if he were standing in a boat. I hope you have someone else to rely on cuz that dude is going to leave you hanging..........like one of his curve balls.

I wonder if HammerDown still believes this.... :2cents:

Talk to us the next time Cruz has to track down a routine fly ball at the warning track............................or pee in a cup.

To my understanding, he wasn't brought in for his defense... He was paid to give us production behind the plate... I'd say he's done that and then some...

Hilarious that anybody from New England even brings up cheating.

Settle down Nancy. Cruz is one of the few MLB players stupid enough to get caught and suspended for using PEDs. He's on my short list of players who will be in the news before too long and not for his hitting or fielding.

READ! He wasn't brought in for his defense... Has he made an error? No... That's an added bonus...

So no one will ever hit a ball out towards his position?

Are Mariners fans a new to the game as the average Seahawk yokel?

Just proves you don't know much about baseball if you're worried about an error from Cruz here and there, while dismissing all the production he brings for us at the plate...
