I just did a draft, head to head, for foreign born players. That was the only stipulation. I'd like to get your thoughts on who would win this matchup between these two teams:

Team A:
PG - Tony Parker, Belgium
SG - Drazen Petrovic, Crostia
SF - Dominique Wilkins, France
PF - Tim Duncan, St. Croix
C - Patrick Ewing, Jamaica

G - Kyrie Irving, Australia
F - Detlef Schrempf, Germany
F/C - Pau Gasol, Spain

Team B:
PG - Steve Nash, Canada
SG - Manu Ginobili, Argentina
SF - Giannis Atetokounmpo, Greece
PF - Dirk Nowitzki, Germany
C - Hakeem Olajuwon, Nigeria

G/F - Ben Simmons, Australia
F - Andrei Kirilenko, Russia
C - Yao Ming, China

Team A has the best player

Team B has so much more depth,

I would go Team B... but it is close...

Wow that's tough. If Ben Simmons could make a jumper I would take B and feel good about it but with that said I'm still going B

I think Team B would be funner to watch, but Team A would win...and Nash and Dirk are two of my favorites ever. Dirk would have to guard Timmy, that would be ugly. I also like Pau of the bench for Team A, much stronger bench overall

I will say team A is more flexible. Kyrie can play both guard spots and Pau the 4 and 5

Team B should try to trade Simmons for Kyrie lol

Looking at it, I think both Simmons and Kyrie are both essential to their teams. Team A needs more perimeter scoring, which Simmons does not provide. Team B has plenty of shooting and perimeter scoring and needs another facilitator and defender. I think both are fits for their lineups. I think you'd need to shift some players additionally to make a Simmons and Kyrie swap beneficial to both teams.

Ewing is OK, but way better centers than him ran into playoff Dream and it was ugly.

Team A:
PG - Tony Parker, Belgium - replace with Kyrie imo
SG - Drazen Petrovic, Crostia - push
SF - Dominique Wilkins, France - push
PF - Tim Duncan, St. Croix - ADV
C - Patrick Ewing, Jamaica

G - Kyrie Irving, Australia
F - Detlef Schrempf, Germany
F/C - Pau Gasol, Spain

Team B:
PG - Steve Nash, Canada - ADV over Parker, Kyrie is close
SG - Manu Ginobili, Argentina - Push
SF - Giannis Atetokounmpo, Greece - push
PF - Dirk Nowitzki, Germany
C - Hakeem Olajuwon, Nigeria ADV

G/F - Ben Simmons, Australia
F - Andrei Kirilenko, Russia
C - Yao Ming, China

Why is Parker starting over Kyrie?

This is actually pretty close. Neck and neck. I would probably take Team B, gun to my head.

I reckon because of Simmons defensive flexibility you have a lot of ways you can play him

If he ever develops an outside shot...

I wouldn't cross your fingers, the bad thing is he isn't even attempted more than a mid-range. He is so gifted around the basket I just don't hate to see him waste his full potential.

Yeah, I think if it were a real game, the bench decides it. Team A having Pau is huge because he can easily play beside either Ewing or Timmy. For Team B, Yao would have to sub in straight up for Hakeem, I can't see them playing side by side. Team A could also move Dominique to the 2 when Detlef comes in, they just fit better as a team

Its not like Duncan is an outside shooter... so there is no reason you cant have Ming and Hakeem in at the same time... when needed...

and I would think Both Ming and Hakeem could move better than ewing...

On a side note, what a great fucking trade for the Mavs!

I like it for both sides. Knicks dump a lot of bad contracts for expiring, add a potential stud in Smith and a future pick.

Great trade for you. Only thing I read was that Porzingas is intent on taking the qualifying offer next year to void his restricted free agency. Big risk, but could pay off for him if he has a great year.

Also you guys will have likely enough cap space for a big free agent. At the very least your cap space is very promising the following year when Barnes and Powell are off the books.

All risk for NY in the offseason for bigtime FA's, but they still have a bunch of assets though. 2 1st rounders, Knox, DSJ, Ntilikina, etc. plus all that cap space.
