Very much agreed on Wisky but the 6s weren't great either.

Well, in the case I mentioned above, we ended up losing that one something like 24 - 18 against a team we were far better than.

I am not sure there was another tactic they could have used to beat us.

But in the second half we tried to get more aggressive and trap the ball whenever we could. Gave up a couple back door layups and just were never able to take control of the game.

Played them at home later that season, scored our first 3 possessions and forced a couple turnovers. They couldn’t stall and we won by 30+.

And that is a perfect example why a shot clock is necessary

I predicted all of the above to win in some brackets I had Grand Canyon winning in every bracket I did. If you look at their results they're pretty strong. And it showed.

SDSU obviously had last year to lean on and Gonzaga did exceptionally well despite struggling early in the year. But you can see the strong OOC has set them up to be where they are now.

I went heavy on Barn. That was just a classic let down game. You had 85 percent free throw shooters missing key shots down the stretch there. That was probably a bigger upset than UK

I understand, but don't like the "stall ball" game. My first year coaching was the season before California implemented a shot clock for high school. I was head coach for the JV and assistant coach for the Varsity. The Varsity HC used to say "When you have racehorses, you race. When you have plow horses you plow. We're gonna plow." We didn't play stall ball, but it was a very deliberate offense and they had to pass at least 5 times bef6ore shooting unless they got a shot right at the rim.

It can be difficult to play that way and actually requires a lot of discipline. It's also boring af. lol

Interestingly, I had some pretty good athletes on my JV team and they really struggled with how deliberate the offense was. So, I had them run the same offense, only faster and with a little more emphasis on the fast break. After about 3 or 4 games, playing like that, he comes to me and says...he likes the way my JV is playing and next year, when the shot clock starts being used and those kids are on the Varsity, we're going up tempo.

I guess they figure they need the cap elsewhere. Based on their actions, they went into the offseason to pick Jones over Sneed (obvious call btw) and would only keep Sneed if no other team wanted him. I guess they figure they can piece together a good enough secondary and still use the cash to boost other areas.

I thought I saw Jones year 1 Cap hit was 7m

So I thought they navigated it that way

I forget what being a well run franchise looked like

Take alt at 7, get Michael hall in round 2 (pass rushing dt) and let’s go see if Levi’s is the guy

North Carolina and Gonzaga seem like no brainers (Kansas best player is out) so that probably means they will both lose.
