A couple diffrent sources (Radio, TV, websites) have been bouncing around this topic lately.
I am curious to see the Sportshoopla response.

The number has to stay the same....so if you add one player, you need to take one off.

I believe TIM DUNCAN belongs on the list of the "50 greatest players in NBA history."
I won't waste any time arguing why he belongs.

So, unfortunately I have to remove EARL MONROE.
Those Knicks teams are exaggerated a bit with NY-centric media remembering them to the masses.
His PER barely registers him slightly above average compared to his peers.
Only twice did he get MVP votes (finished 12th place, finished 16th place) in his own era.

Instead of removing a player from the original top 50 list why not just add 20 more? The NBA's 70th anniversary is right around the corner.

I always thought it was more fun to keep the number at 50.
It keeps it an elite group.

It makes the arguments more difficult having to remove someone as well.
It was only fun regardless.

I am sure the NBA will simply keep expanding the official list to the top 100 or something silly.
But, I like the cuttthroat version of kicking someone off as well.

It makes things much harder.....

Taking Robert Parish off and putting Kobe on!
Idk if I would take Chief off, but I agree Kobe should be in...the player I would take out is Dave Debushere...I saw some of his prime and he was basically the white Dennis Rodman of that era...too limited on OFC imo to be on this list.

I basically had a quick glance at the list and took off the first Celtic I saw!

Good point, but you have guys in the league now that are already worthy of the top 50...the biggest problem I see with the current list is you have to take into account of the era...Cousy was a baller and would perform in any era...to your point...imo I would take David Robinson out in lieu of Duncan if I had to remove a player.

Pete Maravich should be on the list.

You would chop David Robinson off the list to make room for Duncan??
Wow, thats cold man.

You could not find another Monroe, Parrish, or Debuschere like mentioned beforehand in the thread.
But, I respect it.

It really is tough to kick someone off the list...well except for Earl Monroe whom I booted immediately.

@HammerDown , is that your alt? Just kidding, I was going to fake quote you saying this, but wanted to think of some nobody to add on in place of Bill Russell.

I agree, the list needs to be updated, maybe an idea for us to do around here.

I'm sorry...

But, Bill Walton should only make the list if we count his College career.

Sure, it's not his fault he got hurt.

But....Duncan in, Bill out.

Pretty Hardcore so far:
8 players no longer belong on the list in the SportsHoopla opinions.

Russell, Pippen, Monroe, Debuscherre, Walton, Maravich, Parrish, and (sadly) David Robinson have been cut.

Kobe and Duncan are the only ones added specifically.
Bill Russell's spot was apparently replaced with "any player at random" represented by Kwame Brown.

So, I guess the current revised list stands at 44 players+Kwame Brown.... with 5 empty spots open now.

We are better at kicking players off than adding them.
