Movie revelation mistakes?:
1. Independence Day:
a).French Prince & Goldblum upload the virus at the mothership.
b). Then the Air Force destroys the ships on Earth.
c). Then FP&G escape the mothership and appear to have major problems during reentry as the mothership explodes and the scene changes.
d).Then it’s discovered FP&G survived. Why didn’t they flip b) and c) so that the audience can “sit with” the dramatic tension of two of the heroes probably having died?
2. Rounders: In the ultimate hand, the director shows the audience Matt Damon’s hole cards, thus informing the audience that Damon made the nut inside straight on the flop. This completely ruins the tension of all of Teddy KGB’s obnoxious raises, Damon’s timid checks, and the ultimate reveal of Damon’s inside nut flush.
3. Episode VIII, Last Jedi: Snoke is giving his speech in the throne room detailing how Kylo is to kill Rey. In the middle of the speech, the director chooses to show the audience that Kylo is turning the other lightsaber by Snoke’s side toward facing Snoke. Why ruin the surprise of Snoke, not Rey, getting cut down?

For Rounders, they had to show his hole cards.

The whole point of showing the Chan scene on the VHS tape was that he had amazing patience to wait it out until the end when he pushed Seidel all in to win the bracelet.

By showing us his hole cards, we see the patience that MD has to wait it out. Plus, he tells Knish the story about how he took a hand off Chan in AC. He was running on a high. IMO, the entire scene was about KGB losing his cool and not being able to see the cards because he kept splashing the pot.

If we never got to see his hole cards, there wouldn't be as much suspense.
It would just be a reveal and the viewer would be like, oh, ok, he had the nut straight.
By showing his cards, we know he's got him and it's just a matter of how he sets up the kill.
The payoff is in the reaction of KGB and 'he beat me, fair and sqvare.... pay zat man hees moneeee'.

Completely disagree. All the things you mention are still present enough with a surprise reveal, plus you have the reveal. It IS a poker movie after all. #cincinnatikid
also, there were extra-poker stakes going on; he was going to lose his life if he lost. So, just the internal workings of that hand are in no way the main drama in the scene.
I think you need to learn the English word, suspense. It does not mean what you think it means. knowing Damon was going to win the entire time is not MORE suspenseful.

You knew he had the winning hand, but the suspense was in how was he going to bait KGB.
Same concept, different mechanics.

Is a different opinion on how a scene is written really a “mistake”?

A plot hole is a mistake. Catching some of 5he film crew in the shot is a mistake. Including technology that did not exist in the time era is a mistake. Disagreeing with the story telling device is NOT an error.
