One Mr. Tom Scharpling just released his first book, a memoir. He has been a tv writer for Monk, Steven Universe, and others. He's hosted a comedy radio show/podcast for 20 years. The AV Club reviewed his book last week and in that review it was revealed that the name Scharpling is an invented portmanteau combining 2 personal heroes apparently of his, Garry Shandling and Al Sharpton. Tom was born in 1969 and came up with the name sometime in the nineties. And he's from the New York area, which although Al was probably nationally recognized and rising by the time Tom became an adult, that association seems to somehow make it worse.

I know there are probably stage names that people could easily come up with which many would consider stupid sounding. But what are some names more in the vein of repugnance when real meanings are known, those that could cause you to lose respect you may have had for a person?
