In the 1973 CWS he pitched two games. First game he shut out Oklahoma on a one hitter, struck out 14. In the semi, he struck out 15 USC batters and had a 7-0 lead against the school that had won four of the last five. A bad call at first knocked Winfield out of the game in the 9th, the gophers bullpen blew it and USC won. People forget what an athlete he was, drafted by MLB, the NBA, the ABA and the NFL, even though he didn't play football at Minnesota

Gonna throw out Andruw Jones as a guess. I'm trying to think of non-traditional power hitters. Power hitter don't usually get beaned a lot because they don't crowd the plate
