Wilson Ramos is activated from the DL so I was wondering should I drop him in favor of Miguel Montero who I picked up when Ramos went on the DL.

I'd probably lean towards sticking with Montero. I would worry a little about Ramos' wrist... unless you can trade Montero while he's hot?

Montero still looks lost at the plate by and large. I would go with Ramos, even with the injury concerns.

Montero is hitting .286 and is striking out less than he ever has. Not sure I follow your assessment.

hahahaha. We've all been following for more than 35 games.

Ramos is easily the best choice.... unless you're an Arizona fan, then absolutely enjoy the ride while it lasts.

As Tom Hanks said in "Castaway": "Willlllllsonnnnnn!!!!"

Although I have to admit, I like Montero rebounding big this year. Then again, I also like Carlos Ruiz.

Hope this helped. ;)

I'm looking at Wilson's career stats and they really don't blow away Montero, like you seem to think. I guarantee my fantasy team would shit on yours.

Reminds me of a joke:

One day two boys were walking through the woods when they saw some rabbit shit. One of the boys said: "What is that?"

"'They're smart pills," said the other boy "Eat them and they'll make you smarter."

So he ate them and said: "These taste like shit."

"See," said the other boy, "you're already getting smarter."

Ramos equals or betters all of Montero's numbers. . But he does it about half as many games every year. The one knock is not staying in the lineup. If he can do that, it's an easy choice.

Ramos is in that last 3-4 catchers that are worth drafting, Montero is a nice guy to pick up while your starter is out.. that's just where it's at.
Wouldn't be a big gamble to assume that Montero will still be on the wire if you ever change your mind

Ramos does have a higher career OPS+ and SLG%... but he's only topped 100 games once. A healthy Ramos could be a better player, but that's the thing... he hasn't been very healthy

Montero kinda stunk last year, but he had a 123 OPS+ (and .391 OBP) in 2012 and 121 OPS+ in 2011. And he is batting .286/.382/.445 (130 OPS+) right now.

That is the right choice. Montero is solid, but Ramos has elite upside if he can stay healthy. He was top 5 in the majors last season in average fly ball distance and he can hit for average. There are not many catchers capable of combining 25 HR power with a good average. Now that the Nats appear committing to keeping his bat in the middle of their lineup, you have to keep him.

I laughed!

Not sure why this was so one sided for Ramos a month ago? Now, not so much so for this past 30 days...LOL

They are essentially the same player for 5x5 fantasy purposes.....take Ramos' 1000 ab's and multiply his by 3 to equal Montero's 3000 and they look pretty much the same across the board. No idea why some view Ramos as clearly the better play, unless they were the same guys that given Montero's advanced age of four years the elder were touting Montero as the guy with great upside at the catching position to reach "elite" status four years ago...then you factor in will the guy actually play or not the guy that "we hope can stay healthy" gets the nod?
