Carr underachieved. Mays probably never was coached or wasn't good enough to cover anything. Had straight line speed and that was it.
True. He couldnt go lateral to save his life.

I wasn't really on the wagon. It didn't hit rock bottom until 99/2000 though
They should had won the national title in 1998. That loss to Michigan State is still the worst loss I think i've ever witnessed.
Cooper and Carr were carbon copies of one another. Had elite teams but massively underachieved. And yes even Carr with his 97 team.i was a 17-yr old kid that season, and i actually faked sick to call off work at my shitty job at burger king so i could stay home and watch the game with my friends, what a buzzkill of a saturday afternoon that was.
lol i remember that, but can't remember what year....?2009?
Mine would have to be DickRod's second year when he lost to Purdue at home. I knew he needed to GTFO! That shit was straight embarrassing after the early 4-0 or 5-0 start.
RR had a short leash, but there was little that he did which made it look like progress was being made. If you can't do anything in 3 years, it's unlikely you're going to do more with more time. And I think his time at Arizona is more proof of that. He somehow had a good blend of coaches at WV and the perfect situation that he wasn't able to recreate anywhere else. Hoke was just a bad coach who surrounded himself with bad assistant coaches; hence only Mattison and Nussmeier having jobs currently and Nuss is about to get the boot for sucking so bad at Florida.I will admit, we gave Dick Rod an extremely short leash, shorter than Strong at UT, but he clearly wanted to fully tear it down and not use any of the assets he was left with, which lead to his quick demise. Atleast Hoke ran some forms of spread because he knew that's the type of players he had in season 1. With that said, Hoke was the worst coach ever at Michigan. That Shane Morris debacle was just a disgrace.
For Gary Gibbs, it was his 4th year, 1992, going 5-4-2, but it was the loss to Kansas that year that really sealed the deal.
For John Blake, it was his 1st year, 1996, when he opened the year with 4 losses in a row, and on that 4th loss I knew it was just a terrible hire, and yep, it was Kansas again.
I knew Howard Schnellenburger was the wrong guy the moment I heard it announced.
