This is exactly like last year's opener against Carolina, we had to rely on a missed field-goal to win instead of putting the opponent away. I'm happy Denver won but we fell apart in the fourth quarter and that's unacceptable.

The Phillip Rivers post game winning press conference would've been good. Oh well.

I'm glad to see the Broncos win, but enough already with the last second "Icing the kicker" thing. If this was baseball the next time those two teams played some lineman would "accidentally" run into the coach on the sidelines.

Icing the kicker tonight won them the game.

Yeah, I know. I don't like it though. As much as I hate the unwritten rules in baseball, the icing of the kicker seems totally "Bush League"

I think it is kind of recent too. I mean they always used to call a timeout to ice the kicker but sometime in the last 10-15 years they started waiting til a half second before the ball was snapped so they actually start the play and then have to do it over

Hate to break it to you, but the Chargers and Broncos will be battling for last place. Your QB isn't as good as the Chargers made him look.

On to week 2. Go Dolphins!

It was a rookie kicker. Who didn't know the timeout was coming?

The timeout is fine, it is the waiting til the last second so they actually have to run the play twice that is kind of ridiculous.

In this case it absolutely made sense. This was not just the rookies first game winning fg attempt, but his very first fg attempt.

If there ever was an opportunity to get it into the head of a kicker, this was it.

Yeah, I'm not saying it wasn't effective.

You can call timeout anytime before the play starts. What bothers you?

And they were saying on SC that it looked like the TO was a half second late. :dhd:

They should at the very lease let that be a coaches challenge, it's not like it wasn't the difference in the game.

Those plays should be reviewable.

The fact that instead of calling a timeout, they tell the ref they are going to do it, then wait until the point where they actually run the play to call it.

That would have given sports talk people a whole weeks worth of material

Don't get me wrong, if I was betting on the game and a play like that ended up benefiting me so I won money I would think that was the greatest play ever
