following the SEC title game. That's pretty rough to drop 6 spots in the last game of the season!

304 yards from one guy can kill your average in a hurry. If they had pulled Tre earlier (since he was exhausted) Artis-Payne probably goes for a 100 or more with fresh legs.

Things might have been different if our defensive coordinator would have put more than three hands on the ground. I still cant figure that out. Good game and best of luck in the title game.

I realize that Mizzou game up a pathetic 7.4 yards a carry but Auburn gave up a pathetic 6.8 yards a carry

If he put an extra lineman in auburn runs outside more. He picked his poison against an offensive juggernaut. The way auburn uses the fly sweep and the speed of Marshall outside made him choose that scheme. The up the middle runs are in theory less likely to be the big play than the outside auburn runs. Mason is just a beast though and burned him.

I'm just glad we're not the only team to give up 545 yards rushing in one game this year. Welcome to the club, MIZZOU!!!

Let's just say no one won the SEC defense or defensive player of the week on Saturday. I'm just hoping Auburn can get some of our defensive injuries healed by he bowl game but I'm not optimistic.

I would actually say that Auburn's pass defense was 'alright' and even good in spots.

That's a much kinder evaluation then I would give them but the comment is appreciated.

i agree.

sure we were burned by mizzou's receivers from time to time. i think everyone knew that would happen, but they were also able to get pressure on franklin and made enough plays in the secondary to allow them to continue to stick with their own offensive gameplan of running the ball.

Both teams could run at will yet Auburn was 7-14 on 3rd down conversions and Mizzou was 2-12. Why was that? Auburn got good pass rush. Auburn blew up Mizzou's short pass game. Auburn covered Mizzou on obvious passing downs at least moderately well.

Did Mizzou have some big plays? Yes. One of them was a bad call. A few others you just have to credit Mizzou for having good players and a couple of plays you have to question Auburn's coverage. But I hadn't seen Franklin made that uncomfortable in the pocket all year. Auburn's pass rush is well above average.
