Texans' Vrabel rejects 49ers' DC job, reports say

Houston Texans linebackers coach Mike Vrabel has turned down an offer to become the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator, according to multiple media reports.

Looks like a rough start for Chip.

I wonder how that discussion went:

Chip: So Mike, you wanna come DC for me?

Vrabel: Hmmmmm. I'm skeptical. What is your plan?

Chip: Well, the majority of the best D players left last year so I really only need to get rid of Bowman. Then I will run my college hurry up offense which consists of 8 a total of different plays for the entire season without a decent QB, which will keep your D on the field for over 45 minutes a game! Think of all of the plays you will get to call!!

Not going to say the Texans are the picture perfect franchise.. but I doubt many guys are booking plane tickets to interview for positions in San Fran... the owners are scumbags and the new coach is probably going to be canned in 2 years.

Yorks were foolish to hire him with no staff, or least check.
It comes down to the defense not having enough depth to last as long as they will need to be on the field cause of the 3 and out by Kellys offense.

Im talking about being involved with the D and game planning. Now the OC is not going to be a real OC with us. Chip is our OC.

So the DC has full control of the defense? That's a big deal? The DC will be the goat after the D gets blasted because they are on the field all day long. In other words the DC position for the 49ers is for those that want to end their coaching career in the NFL.
