Getting Cuddyer was a great move. Excellent hitter that makes the whole lineup better. His leadership is very big as well.

Duda is developing into a superstar. It would have been a disaster had the Mets chosen Ike instead of Duda. Great decision by Sandy and company. I think d'Arnaud is on his way to becoming a star as well.

This team looks as if it's gonna be a legit contender. The rebuilding required a lot of patience, but it's now paying off.

With an innings limit after the TJ surgery, they're gonna have to have Harvey skip a few starts so he'll be available to pitch big September games, and hopefully playoff games.

Duda is absolutely killing it, 3-4 last night, he's hitting with runners in scoring position, he's hitting lefties, it's fantastic to watch, keep it up!

There is a completely different feel to this season. The past few years if they went down 3-0 I probably would have shut the game off but yesterday I found myself saying, this game isn't over, we're going to come back. Getting really good vibes from the team and the fanbase this year.

Good Morning, Amazin nation.

FIRST PITCH: Bartolo Colon will attempt to pitch the New York Mets to their first six-game winning streak in four years on Friday.

David Phelps (0-0, 36.00 ERA) at 7:10 p.m. ET at Citi Field.

Phelps is returning from paternity leave after the birth of his son Jack on Monday. He enters the Miami Marlins rotation in place ofHenderson Alvarez, who has landed on the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

The Mets' last six-game winning streak came April 21-27, 2011.

•A 5-minute, 44-second replay review determined Ichiro Suzuki went untagged and the Marlins should be awarded the tying run in the top of the seventh last night. A half-inning later, however, Lucas Duda answered with his third hit of the night, a go-ahead RBI single against left-hander Mike Dunn. Duda finished 3-for-4 with two doubles. He became the fifth player in franchise history with multiple extra-base hits in three straight games, joining Carlos Beltran (2006), Rico Brogna (1994), Lenny Dykstra (1987) and Frank Thomas (1962). Duda is now 4-for-8 against left-handed pitching this season.

Wilmer Flores had a three-run homer -- his first three RBIs of the season.
Jerry Blevins is now 10-for-10 in retiring batters as a Met -- all lefties.
Jeurys Familia recorded his fourth save this week.

  • After the game, Travis d'Arnaud conceded he never tagged Suzuki on the disputed seventh-inning play before the Marlin touched the plate. The replay length was 26 seconds shy of the apparent MLB record, in a Marlins-Cincinnati Reds game last July 31 that involved a heated dispute over whether a runner had a clear path to the plate. “It was long enough for everyone in the stands to yell out their opinion,” Gary Cederstrom, Thursday's crew chief, told a pool reporter afterward when asked about the length. Read more in thePost, Daily News and at MLB.com.

  • Gee described himself as “stupid” for pitching to Stanton with first base open in the first inning after Christian Yelich's steal. Stanton launched a two-run homer. Read more in the Post.

  • Columnist Kevin Kernan in the Post suggests “we're finally seeing the real Terry Collins” this season.

  • Joe Trezza at MLB.com reviews Curtis Granderson's stellar bases-loaded catch in the sixth that allowed Montero to escape a major jam inherited from Gee.
  • Vic Black tossed a no-hit relief inning in a rehab appearance with Class A St. Lucie on Thursday.
    Bobby
Parnell, handling the following frame, allowed two runs on two extra-base hits and a walk.

  • Bob Raissman in the Daily News catches up with former SNY analyst Bobby Ojeda, who departed this offseason after failing to agree on a new contract. In addition to a money gap during negotiations, Ojeda told Raissman he bolted partly because of turnover at the producer level. Craig Germain, the senior coordinating producer, left for the NFL Network. Gerard Guilfoyle, the producer of the pregame and postgame shows, “began taking on other projects.”

  • Columnist John Harper in the Daily News suggests the Mets may have a “game-changer” with Duda, like the Marlins have with Stanton. Michael Cuddyer said Duda's penchant for driving in runs reminds him of Justin Morneau when they were teammates with the Minnesota Twins, writes Mike Vorkunov at NJ.com.

  • David Wright tells Anthony DiComo at MLB.com he is "bored out of his mind" being on the DL.

  • Kiley McDaniel at Fangraphs.com reports the Mets appear to have a $1.8 million deal in place with Dominican shortstop Gregory Guerrero, a nephew of Vladimir Guerrero. International 16-year-olds cannot sign until July 2. The Mets previously had signed another Guerrero nephew, Jose, according to MLB.com.

  • Matt Reynolds and Alex Castellanos homered as Las Vegas beat Sacramento, 7-4. T.J. Rivera went 4-for-4 with three RBIs in Binghamton's 9-3 home-opener win against Harrisburg. Dominic Smith, a 2013 first-round pick, went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and St. Lucie beat Brevard County, 14-6. Smith entered the game 3-for-27 this season. Stefan Sabol, Wuilmer Becerra and Pedro Perez homered in Savannah's 8-3 win against Charleston.
  • Danny Muno has been promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas with the Mets deciding to make their bench a conventional five position players. The corresponding move will be announced Friday. Muno, an eighth-round pick in 2011 out of Fresno State, becomes the first player drafted by Sandy Alderson's regime to reach the majors with the ballclub. The first to reach the majors overall actually came when Logan Verrett, a Rule 5 pick by the Baltimore Orioles, made the Opening Day roster of the Texas Rangers after being claimed off waivers. Barring an injury to a pitcher that has not yet been disclosed, the simplest roster move may be to demote Erik Goeddel. A wild card might be if the Mets decide Rafael Montero needs to get on track by being placed in the Triple-A rotation. Read more in Newsday and at NJ.com.

NEW YORK (4/17) -- Rafael Montero has been demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas to clear the roster spot for the promotion of infielder Danny Muno.

Montero, a starter throughout his minor league career, had been 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA and 1.846 WHIP in four relief appearances to begin the season.

Montero, 24, should enter Triple-A Las Vegas' rotation. He could return to the majors in a starting capacity during the first half, especially if Dillon Gee falters or is traded in the next several weeks.

The Mets promoted Muno and dropped a reliever to balance their bench and bullpen. The Mets now have five position players on the bench and seven pitchers in the bullpen.

Finally establishing some home field advantage at Sheaiti Field! Five in a row at home; Six str8 overall, bullpen decimated but pitching well, and Colon driving in runs.

It can't possibly last, but I'm enjoying this.

Bang! 6 straight, undefeated at home. Another game where we put runs on the board, getting solid contributions left and right. This team is fun. Just keep beating division rivals.

Having a guy like Colon is such an asset (in more ways than 1)..for our type of roster and pitching staff.
I'm glad Sandy realized that and kept him here. He's a steadying force and a seasoned vet who's seen it all and knows how to approach /handle every game situation he's in no matter the circumstance. He keeps an easy keel that rubs off on his teammates.

Bravo, Bartolo!!!

Well said. I was really glad that Sandy didn't trade him during the offseason. I never understood why some fans wanted Colon traded. The guy won 15 games on a below .500 team last year. He's just winner, and it's important having a veteran to go along with the younger guys in the rotation.

The bullpen is looking terrific as well. Getting Blevins was a great trade. Familia looks like a dominant closer. His stuff is so nasty that most of the time, hitters don't have a chance. I see him being a great closer for a long time. This already good bullpen is gonna get even stronger when Black and Parnell return.

Lagares was so much fun to watch tonight. Three great catches, and fitting that he had a spectacular defensive game in the day that he was presented with the gold glove.

The atmosphere at Citi Field is electric, really for the first time since the ballpark opened up. Fans can feel that this is the start of something special. A team that should be a contender for many years.

Props to Juan Lagares.....

NEW YORK (4/17)-- Juan Lagares led all major league center fielders with 28 defensive runs saved in 2014, despite not even playing a full season. He became the first New York Mets player to win a Gold Glove since David Wright and Carlos Beltran were honored in 2008. He also joined Beltran, and the late Tommie Agee as the only Mets outfielders to win the award.

In a pregame ceremony Friday, Lagares finally received the hardware. Then he put on a defensive clinic in the Mets’ 4-1 win against the Miami Marlins.

Christian Yelich. Lagares also dove forward and snared a sinking liner from Realmuto, after a hesitation reading the baseball, with two on base in the seventh.

Bartolo Colon, the beneficiary of all three catches, said through an interpreter that Lagares ranks with Marquis Grissom and Kenny Lofton as the best defensive outfielders with whom he has played.

Lagares said the dive forward to deprive Realmuto of a base hit in the seventh was the most challenging.

“You’ve got the tendency to go back when the ball is in front of you,” Lagares said. “I just went with everything I’ve got, and I think I made a great diving catch right there. I was a little surprised. I always think like, ‘I want to get it,’ even when I don’t have a chance.”

He also suggested it was difficult to run down the deep shot from Yelich, who also won a Gold Glove for his 2014 work.

“He killed that ball,” Lagares said. “I just went with everything I’ve got. I had to jump and make a good catch.”

Lagares said he enjoys talking outfield play with former Met Carlos Gomez, another defensive standout, who also is a good friend.

About the only thing Lagares couldn’t catch Friday was Giancarlo Stanton’s homer to right-center. Lagares unsuccessfully tried to snare it before it cleared the wall.

“He’s got a lot of power,” Lagares said.

Totally agree. The guy never looks flustered out there, always on the level, always calm. That type of composure has to rub off on teammates.

FIRST PITCH: Jacob deGrom looks to keep the New York Mets rolling on Saturday when he faces the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m. ET at Citi Field.

The Amazin’s enter the game with an 8-3 record and on a six-game winning streak. DeGrom has a scoreless streak of 11 1/3 innings since surrendering a first-inning homer to Ryan Zimmerman in the right-hander’s season debut.

DeGrom (1-1, 1.46 ERA) opposes Marlins right-hander Mat Latos (0-2, 17.36).

The Mets are five games over .500 for the first time since July 13, 2012, when they owned a 46-41 record. A victory on Saturday would give the Mets their longest winning streak since posting eight consecutive victories in June 2010.

SATURDAY’S NEWS REPORTS:

    • Promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas, Danny Muno singled and stole second base as a pinch hitter Friday in his major league debut. The most interesting development, however, regarded the pitcher the Mets demoted to clear the roster spot. Rafael Montero, unproductive in a bullpen role, will only temporarily be assigned to the Pacific Coast League, according to manager Terry Collins. Montero is due to return for an April 28 start at Miami.

The spot start is designed to give all of the Mets starting pitchers an extra day of rest. Yet the Mets are not going to a six-man rotation beyond that one turn. So either Dillon Gee or Montero will get bounced from the rotation at the end of the month. Gee, available via trade, has a 7.59 ERA in two starts.

Read more in Newsday, the Daily News and at NJ.com and MLB.com.
    • The Mets ran their winning streak to six games with a 4-1 win against the Marlins on Friday. Bartolo Colon served up a first-inning homer to Giancarlo Stanton, then tossed six scoreless frames. Colon again delivered at the plate, too. His sacrifice fly -- his first since 2002 -- tied the score at 1-1 in the fifth. The Mets have produced come-from-behind victories in four straight games for the first time since June 20-24, 1999, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

      • Muno’s parents were in attendance for his debut despite his mother, Anne, suffering a stroke two weeks ago. She is taking blood thinners, trying to avoid brain surgery for a clot. Read more at NJ.com.

      • The potential sale of the Binghamton Mets has landed in federal court, with a group trying to move the Double-A team to Wilmington, Delaware, alleging they had a valid deal in place.

      • Starter Tyler Pill allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings for Las Vegas. Jayce Boyd delivered a walk-off three-run double as Binghamton beat Harrisburg, 8-7. St. Lucie mustered only three hits in a 7-0 loss to Fort Myers. Charleston beat Savannah, 4-3. Read the full minor league recap here.

      • Collins tells Jared Diamond in the Journal that a 28- or 30-man roster, with 25 players active for any given game, would be preferable over the current format.

      • From the bloggers ... Faith and Fear is experiencing a spiritual rebirth. ...Mets Report analyzes what has gone right for the Mets.
