Ho. Ly. Shit.

Aaron Rodgers is the happiest guy in the league right now.

Think of when QBS in the near future have to be paid such as Carson Wentz of the Philadelphia Eagles, Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys and Jameis Winston of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to name just a few.

My guess is they will be significantly over paid even if they dont hit $30 mil because they arent quite as good as the top in the league

Hopefully the cap will rise to allow this or teams will not be able to stay as competitive as you do usually need more than just a good QB
Sounds like someone is concerned about how much AR is going to r*pe GB for

Wentz gonna get 200,000,000
Gonna destroys Philly's cap and a lot of good players are going to be gone trying to fit that contract in.

Ryan has always driven me crazy. He had one great year, but throughout his career, it seems like he;s always just been good enough to keep around, but not good enough to take a team over the top.

But he is better and more accomplished the Cousins, and he does own Aaron Rodgers head to head, so I guess you have to pay the man.

I always have had the same vibe about Matty Ice as I have about Tannehill. Both look the part, but neither can actually get it done. Matt Ryan did have one amazing year though.

Which is why they need to go to a percent of the cap system. I think owners really don't want that, but man it would make life easy. "Mr QB, you get 18% of the cap in any given year. Go make the NFL more money so you make more money". It's like profit sharing.

Then you go down the line and everyone gets what they get. All you argue about is percentages, and it's very simple to see how much a team has left. If you have already signed 87% of your salary cap and need to fill 3 roster spots...well I hope everyone is happy with splitting 13%.

You don't even have to do escalators in later years, as long as the cap keeps going up. My only worry then is that the owners would start doing off-the-books crap to make the cap go down. So make it part of the CBA where the NFLPA accountants get to see all operating revenues and expenses each year, and everyone is happy.

I don't see it as an overpay. If Cousins is worth $28m, how can Ryan not be worth $30m? If that's the market, then the man got paid the market, unless of course you believe Cousins is better or worth more than Ryan...
I think you are buying into the agents "sales pitch" perfectly. I've always felt that is such a weak, short-sighted argument to pick the one guy(s) that helps "prove" it's not a bad comment while ignoring others. It works both ways. Brady makes $20M per year. Is Ryan worth $10M more per year than Brady? Cousins isn't worth $28M a year but is younger than Ryan and a free agent.

Most importantly this isn't about comparing him to other players this is about looking at your team with and without a particular player. It's about putting a team together under the cap and it's doing so with a guy that is going to be old at the end of this deal. Do some players play at a high level at that age? Of course but it doesn't mean he will. You can't pay a guy for what he has shown in the past going forward. At some point the contracts will get high enough where a team is better off without even guys like Rodgers. I think Atlanta has already crossed over to the wrong side of that threshold with this deal. But Ryan is a very good QB. Hopefully he stays that way.

Best player in the game. GB better hope he doesn't play hardball and threaten hitting free agency. But Rodgers is a guy worth spending over 16% of your cap on at least. Ryan??? Not so sure...

$1.875 million per game. Almost as much as David Price is being paid per inning.

He's neither loser nor elite. If you rated the top 30 QBs in the NFL, Cousins is destined to fall into the 10-20 range every year of his entire career. But he'll stay upright most seasons and he'll allow Minny to be a contenduh most seasons.
