Mark Cuban: NCAA is 'hypocritical' D-League a Better Option

I love to hate this bigmouth but it's hard to argue with him this time.

Cuban You don't have to pretend. We don't have to pretend. A major college has to pretend that they're treating them like a student-athlete, and it's a big lie and we all know it's a big lie. At least at most schools, not all. ... But we can put more of an emphasis on their education. We can plan it out, have tutors. We can do all kinds of things that the NCAA doesn't allow schools to do that would really put the individual first.

Problem is while some of his points are actually valid. He doesn't actually know what hes talking about. He's basically saying a bunch of random things and hoping some make sense

And he makes it sound like the NCAA is the one making the rules lol. It's the NBA's guidline.

Certainly the current system, with the high profile 1-n-dones, degrades the integrity of the game, at that level.

It looks like a good idea but its coming out of Mark Cuban's mouth so its probably a really dumb one and I just haven't figured out the ramifications yet.

Just drafting players out of high school and making them play in the dleague for 3 years seems a bit silly. College basketball is also fun and a big money maker. The dleague couldn't get people to watch it to save its life.

Switch to 3 years like the NFL. I hear the NFL is doing okay

The NBA has never done anything but try to keep at least some peace between itself and the NCAA.

The hypocrisy started a long time before there was any professional sports league in the western hemisphere.

that is fine for the under 1% of college basketball players but a free college tuiton is always a better safety net then going to play in the developmental league imo.

In terms of ending the "student-athlete" hypocrisy in college, it's hard to argue with Cuban.

But there's one big problem in making this a reality: $$$$$.
Way too much TV money at stake now for colleges to go along.
We're much more likely to see colleges paying players.

Also...if the NBA via the D-League is going to draft players out of high school...then you could see a lot of the current college hypocrisy shifted down to the high school level. It's already there to some extent.
