Offseason gets a B+ and a A for effort in my opinion. Couldn't have really have asked for anything more in my opinion.

Locking up Cory and Greene now is a step in the right direction as they both would get more on the open market and it's nice to FINALLY see some long term commitment to two better than average players to the organization.

Offense still lacks that true superstar but hopefully the forward depth will pay dividends in a system that shines when you have 4 continously rolling lines.

If our young defensemen can take another step forward, I think this team will surprise a lot of people in a wide open eastern conference.

He's our #1 for now, might not be for long. At the same time that's not really number 1 D money. Bottom line is if that guy is out there I'm feeling pretty comfortable.

Not a number 1 in NHL, but this guy deserves the money. Isn't he voted by his own teammates as the MVP and unsung hero most seasons? Same with coaching staff.

With the younger guys, Greene will help. The guy has ton of experience, and rarely makes mistakes.

Just going to ramble off the guys I think are def better than him:

Chara, McDonagh, Subban, Letang, Keith, Doughty, Seabrook, Weber, Suter, Vlassic, Karlson, Pietrangelo, Ekman-Larsson, Byfuglien.

I'm sure I missed a couple, but my point is he's not top-10 but he's definitely somewhere in the 15-20 range.

As Nasty pointed out that is hardly #1 money. The guys who come to mind that are markedly better than him are making $7+.

Plus if you look at it objectively, he is IMO one of the top 30 D men in the league and since there are 30 teams....
