Damn, still waiting in my lifetime for anyone to say college football playoffs and even mention Minnesota. I mean, shit at least Indiana has been mentioned.

Week of November 9-15, 2019 I am know Minnesota was mentioned. Being 9-0, having just beat #5 ranked and undefeated 8-0 PSU. All alone atop of the B1G West. Nov 10th rankings came out with UMn #7.

When your Gophers won 11 games in '19 it was the first time since '03 they won double digits games in a season. Before that the only times they won double digits games was 1900, 1903, 1904 & 1905.

Edit, they played 10 games in both 1960 and 1961, a #1 and a #6 finish in the AP Poll those years, one their first Rose Bowl, the 2nd their first Rose Bowl win.

And Minnesota obviously robbed Washington of their deserved Title, right? Oh wait, Washington lost to Navy, who lost to Missouri who lost to Kansas. Only teams in the mix I haven't mentioned are Ole Miss who played an unranked team in their bowl game. Not hard to win bowl games when you play a nobody, and Iowa, whom Minnesota pummeled.

And Washington didn't get ranked higher pre-Bowl game because they only played one EOS Top 20 ranked team during the regular season and lost to them while UMn played the #1 ranked team in the country at the time(EOS #3) and pummeled them, 27-10. It was Iowa's only loss. So as much as someone like you looks only at the records and ignores everything that actually went on. Natl Titles were given out BEFORE the Bowl games, that is how they did things at that time, and Minnesota easily earned their #1 ranking by beating the best team in the nation other than them, and they did so in commanding fashion.

"so called"??? lol What in your opinion makes them only "so called" Natty's? Did we play only the sh1t teams like Oregon in the 1939 NCAA bb tourney? From my memory, UMn played AND BEAT some of the best teams in the country, and produced a ton of great football players and coaches, and actually did a lot to transform the game.

And he only played for the Gophers for one season, so most don't even know he was ever a Gopher, so you have double the reason not to know this. But I just think it's funny. It was when the 85 scholarship rule came into place. And yes of course when the Ducks finally won a bowl game in 1989 is when the University and Phil Knight became investors into the football program.
