The fallacy in this is ridiculous. I guess the Phillies should have been expecting a ~4.00 ERA when they traded for Cliff Lee?

Lester's strikeout rate this year is in line with 2009-10 and his walk rate is by far the lowest of his career right now. His K/BB ratio this year is 4.66, his career best was 3.52 in 2009. He currently has an FIP and xFIP lower than what they were in 2009-10.

well the ironic thing is that he is actually pitching at almost a 4.00 right now, dont get me wrong lester is having a great season this season but it isnt wise to expect him to keep having this type of success past 30 not to many players get better with age

ahahahahha what? and Lester's two years older than Felix, but age only matters so much for pitchers. Felix has a lot more mileage on his arm.

Okay, but I was referring to when the Phillies first got him, back in mid-2009. Cliff Lee was coming off his 2.54 ERA CYA season and was off to another great year (3.14 ERA, 135 ERA+, 0.95 WHIP and 5 complete games in 13 starts for the Tribe). His K/BB from 2008 onwards saw a huge improvement. He had a 2.15 K/BB ratio prior to 2008. Since then, it's been 6.08, which is ridiculously good. And Lee's been among the best pitchers in the league over that span.

He's also been dealing with various injuries this year.

Bad move for the A's. Gave up one of their better hitters for a rental player that said he would like to go back to Boston. Boston has a shot to have both players next year. Great trade for Boston.

I really think Tulo will be a Yankee next year. I think Yankees didn't really make any moves so they can use their chips for this winter to land Tulo.

What "chips" do they have again?

I have to disagree on this one. We both know just yesterday there were all kinds of opinions thrown around about all the prospects etc the Sox were gonna get for Lester. This deal is so far away from what everyone , including the experts , were discussing it isn't even funny. I knew I was right about what I've been saying as far as the Sox boxing themselves into a corner but I had no idea they were in THIS bad a shape. I think if Sox fans want to be honest about this they will admit the powers that be in Boston got absolutely fuckin robbed here. It's impossible to imagine a deal involving Lester that's as one sided as this. It's positively shocking
Sure, I'll have a hit of that. I haven't smoked some killer herb in a few months, but it sounds like you start your day with it............every day.

Hey 90's! Welcome back!

The Sox new owners revamped Fenway. The actually removed the troughs and installed toilets and urinals! Their clubhouse facilities are among the best in the league... I don't think playing at a football stadium will make him forget Boston....
I hope Lester comes back Steve, but using the Fenway is revamped argument is crazy. The place is a shit hole and I will gladly push the plunger on any explosive devise you want to plant there.

MLB network been damn near putting them in the world series all day until the Price trade

Do you have some sort of bias against Oakland? I remember you complaining a lot about the Warriors firing Mjax and hiring Kerr. And now I'm sensing a lot of bitterness from you about this trade.

Cespedes versus LHP, 2013-2014: .262/.347/.492
Gomes versus LHP, 2013-2014: .264/.370/.440

Cespedes versus RHP, 2013-2014: .241/.278/.436
Fuld versus RHP, 2014: .250/.343/.340

Might not be able to replace Cespedes, but a Fuld/Gomes platoon can work out pretty well.

LOL
1.)they made a move
2.) They used a decent chip to get that trade done.
3.) If Tanaka was healthy, that would be the only player that could even get the Rockies to discuss a trade.

I think the A's have answered the Cespedes trade questions. for those who don't know the A's the offense works via platoon. they never relied on the middle of the lineup for all the offense. Just look at the batting averages 1-9. It ain't that impressive.

None the less, the A's have answered the offense issues.
