At least end their tax exemption. Sure it will take 10+ million in litigation but it will probably save money in the long run.

"Went so far"? It's basically the standard. They do this to pretty much everyone, even their "friends".
True. Their MO is to intimidate and attack anyone that dares to criticize them...or tell the truth about them. Time magazine, former church leaders, numerous actors, Oscar-winner Paul Haggis, etc. have all talked about how members are punished if they question what the church teaches, if they're not deferential enough to church leaders, and how members are required to cut anyone out of their life that leaves the church. Part of me is surprised the A&E show managed to get on the air.

Yes, that was the counterpoint I knew was out there, but didn't want to acknowledge it. Touche, it hasn't been a complete waste.

Back in the 70s, I went to a Scientology presentation at a hotel in San Diego (I was about 16 or 17 at the time). I remember leaving and thinking that this whole idea about getting "clear" was a load of crap and a money making scam. Anyway, they continued to all me for weeks on end asking me to join. My mom finally called the police and the phone company before the calls stopped. Thank God I had enough sense to know what a load of crap that whole thing was.

There was an HBO documentary on Scientology awhile back, seems that the majority of PR about them today is negative, and I doubt they're taking in many converts, just doing everything they can to keep the remaining members from leaving.

Supposedly now they're expanding their operations more to countries overseas such as in Africa, and they have a ridiculous amount of funds at their disposal. Not sure they'll die off, but they might become persona non grata in the 1st world, and start a new 'empire' in 3rd world countries with less access to information.

So who gets to decide which belief system gets put on the 'chopping block?'

You?

Why are you qualified?
Why is Branch Davidian considered a cult why Christianity is considered a religion?

Christianity is nothing more than a cult with legs.
