I am a big NASCAR fan and trust me when I say other fans will not be happy to hear the govt is handing out $62million to build an electric race car.

Regulating an electric car will be tricky for NASCAR and I think provide the teams with an unfair advantage. The engine has less moving parts (I am guessing) and experiences less force on those parts (valve springs, etc) that would make the engine less likely to blow.
