Magic and Pelinka would do the franchise a favor (and the fans as well) by putting to rest the rumors of trading Randle, Clarkson, and Nance and move on. This article intimates that to trade Randle is really going to be a setback in the developmental progression everyone wants because teams aren't willing to give up anything much of value for any one or all three players and the Lakers would shoot themselves in the foot by tading any one or all three.

We have some nice additions in Gary Peyton II, Brook Lopez, and Thomas Bryant called-up from the G-league so it really is pointless at this point to continue to keep the roster in suspense as to who is going. It is called the Philadelphia syndrome and the latter franchise have just now climbed out of their five-year abyss of keeping everyone in suspense as to who is going to be traded. This is just not a good strategy. Time to move along and continue to develop the present roster of good-to-great young talent.

Why The Lakers Shouldn't Part With Julius Randle Before The 2018 NBA Trade Deadline - Lakers Nation

I agree with a lot of what the article says as far as Randle as a player. I disagree that any of it is a reason to not trade him.

The Lakers aren't looking to trade Randle or Clarkson for the great assets they would bring. They would be trading them for cap space to chase 2 max level FA's this off-season.

Everyone has known since before the season started that because of Short Buss signing Deng and Mozgov, for the Lakers to land max level guys, they were going to have to give up Randle, Clarkson and probably Nance.

Unless the idea is to stand pat and hope that the current group can develop like GSW, there's no point in taking any of them off the trading block when everyone knows they are going right back on at the end of the season.

Heck, even if the idea is to have them available for next year in case they don't land max FA's this off-season...it just means going through the same thing again next year.

True, but the crux of the matter is rapidly becoming this:

"Unless the idea is to stand pat and hope that the current group can develop like GSW, there's no point in taking any of them off the trading block when everyone knows they are going right back on at the end of the season."

We started slow but now have taken the lead by four against the Knicks!

Randle and Lopez have all of the Lakers points as the first quarter soon comes to an end.

Lopez opens the quarter going 3-for-3 and a couple of three pointers. I guess a few people have come to play.

I am scrolling through the roster and there at the end is that panty-waste of stiff Luol Deng. Yea, I get it. It's a business and it obviously works both ways in the NBA.

Kyle Kuzma is still playing at a fairly high level and he has come to play today.

Caruso is making the best of his opportunity as he scores a driving lay-up.

Caruso and Kuzma hook-up for the three and the lead now expands to 9.

This is interesting. The youngsters have yet to commit a shooting foul.

WE really have to work on FT shooting. This is another game where we are missing one of two and we are shooting as a team right around 50%.

Nance isn't going to help his cause for not being traded by missing finger-roll baskets that close to the basket.
