He leads all left wingers in points, he's 8th overall in points, leads all left wingers with a +21, which is also tied for tops for all positions. He only trails Alexander Ovechkin, Alexander Steen, & Patrick Sharp for goals among left wingers, and he's 7th overall in goals scored. People say he's only putting up these numbers because of Sid, but the way I figure, Sid will be at Sochi as well, and you know putting them on the same line will get good production so might as well have him there along with Sid for the sake of chemistry. Not to mention he deserves to be there if you go by numbers.

I think Kunitz has a real chance of getting in. He kind of has that power-forward like physical presence in him, even though he is not a big guy. And I think that is something team Canada could use. Combined with the obvious factor that him and Sid have their familiarity playing on a line together.

It would help them, IMO.. so if he doesn't go, I think it will help team USA :plotting:

True, would benefit us if he didn't go, but I think he clearly deserves it. He's statistically the best left winger in the NHL at the moment.

For sure, Kunitz is deserving. He's a great player in this league, regardless of who his center is.

Yeah, last I checked Ovechkin has a pretty good center as well. I guess that means Ovechkin shouldn't be going to Sochi then.

Honestly, he deserves it on merit even without the Crosby connection.

I agree, his +/- rating might be the greatest evidence of that.

I think it's his style points that people don't like. Rick Nash plays a 'pretty' game while being less effective than Kunitz as a general hockey player. I still don't get why Patrick Sharp, who I love as a player, was a no-brainer, and Kunitz is terrible and will be the reason why Canada doesn't win gold.

I just think it's funny that all along Sid was an overrated crybaby, now he's the sole reason Kuni is putting up the best numbers of any left winger in the game today.

Glad he made it and is very deserving. My only question looking back through his career in juniors, college and pro I don't think he has ever played a game on the larger ice rinks of international play.

His only appearance at the international level was in 2008 and that was played in Canada. I think the same holds true for Patrick Sharp?

That will be interesting to see how they adapt to the larger ice surface but they are both very smart hockey players and I think they will adapt fine.

Yeah, it's pre-concieved notions, somehow Kunitz being familiar with Getzlaf, Perry, and Crosby is immaterial, and he's a product of playing with them. Well, he can play with them in Sochi, so what is the problem?

In the same sense no one is arguing James Neal should be on the team, even though he's a better pure goal scorer than anyone on the Canadian roster sans Stamkos.
