Could also conceivably run it with fewer teams by adding a couple active positions.
Yes - but it would be cool to get to 12 teams so we can compare what happen here to what happens in a traditional league.

@wilwhite

Was thinking…

You know what could be fun? Make the waiver process each week a mini draft.

Would make it take a bit longer, but I think would be fun.

Once a team doesn’t want to use their spot, they pass and save their spot in the order for next week. First team to pass gets first pick next week.

I'm planning for our game "weeks" to be really just a couple of days - the actual matchups running on even-numbered days. So once we get the "season" started it will be over in about a month.

To clarify a bit how this league will work:

14-week regular season, H2H, three divisions, six playoff spots, points for is first tiebreaker, top two seeds get byes.

Slow snake draft, 15 rounds. (Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, K, DST, 6 bench, no IR.) People will be able to select their draft position - we'll have a little contest to determine selection order. First four positions will be one division, 5 through 8 will be the second division, and 9 through 12 will be the third division. Schedule will be set pre-draft.

Standard, decimal scoring. League will run on Fantrax, which has helpful flexibility and search capabilities.

During the season:

Day 0
Draft ends, commissioners will assign drafted players to teams on Fantrax.
10 pm ET: Waivers run on Fantrax.

Day 1 (and all subsequent odd-numbered days)
8 am ET: Initial Trade Offer period opens. During this period offers can be made in a league trade thread (but not accepted yet); a player - and your waiver position - can only be included in one offer; no counters can be made yet; and you can't back out of an offer unless your offered player/waiver position is no longer available). No conditional trades. Waiver position can only be offered as a swap for the other owner's waiver position.
8 pm ET: Initial Trade Offer period ends and Follow-up Offer period begins (during this period all owners can make new offers on players/waiver positions offered/targeted in the Initial Trade Offer period).

Day 2 (and all subsequent even-numbered days)
Noon ET: Follow-up Offer period ends and Trade Acceptance period begins. In the Trade Acceptance Period, any recipient of an Initial Trade Offer or Follow-up Offer can accept it. In the case of conflicts, whichever acceptance is posted first gets it (quote the offer you are accepting).
6 pm ET: Trade Acceptance period closes and commissioners execute accepted trades (make sure to set your active roster)
8 pm ET: Rosters locked. "Week 1" totals tallied for active roster, matches settled, and rosters unlocked.
10 pm ET: Waivers run on Fantrax.

If you don't have an active player in every active slot, you post a ZERO for the week.

Trade deadline is by team - as soon as you are one loss from elimination, you can no longer trade.

Is there even a need for waivers? Or is it just to cover the one week wonders?

Waivers will be hugely important, I predict. The rest-of-season landscape will change a lot. Look at Derrick Henry. Somebody will draft him to win early weeks and then have to solve the rest-of-season problem.

And with a bench only six deep, you could barely cover bye weeks for all the positions. Navigating that competitively will be half the game.

Right now I have a very busy week ahead. I just got back from a mini vaca home to see the parents. If y'all have still not drafted next weekend give me a shout again.

We'll probably start this coming week so that @obxyankeefan can participate. Who else is around? @Trudem?
