Getting back to Mingos OT, he's right that the interior line on D is critical to the success of the edge rushers and actually everyone else on D. It's no secret to how to disrupt the Brady's out there. Having elite edge rushers isn't the greatest thing when a Qb can step up into a " clean " pocket . The only way to beat these guys and get maximum effectiveness out of your edge rushers is to dirty up the Qbs comfort zone....the pocket from up middle. Let's not also forget that although Maliks departure and injuries did Denver D no favors, the offense or lack there of, put the D in a very difficult position to keep up their energy especially in 2nd half. I pretty sure if you looked at stats from last year, the D showed pretty favorable numbers in first half compared to the 2nd. Yes I know Denver D was allowing a shitload of opening drive Tds, but for most part, they got real stingy rest of half in run D also. Also, problem for Denver D in second half besides too many 3 + outs by offense was depth at the interior. Not really solid replacement guys behind starters when they got gassed. Also don't think we have the greatest LB core but they can be much more effective when the big boys up front do their job more consistently. They know their backs are covered by that secondary. Can you even imagine how gassed Marshall must of been by mid 3rd qtr + by all the 3 and outs by offense. He put blame on himself for last year's performance but no way he would make any excuses for himself.. From my position anyway, the offense was the main contributor in failures by the D in every position. If Denver's offense is able to improve just twice as much as last year, that D is capable of being # 1 or top 5 this year.

Miller is double and tripled team so if the player opposite Miller can't beat a one on one match up they need to find someone who can. I would love Denver to make a play for Zack Orr. He's better than Todd Davis with coverage ability. Instant upgrade if healthy.

I would feel much better about our chances this year if we got Orr signed to a deal. The dude was going nuts on the league before he decided to hang it up. Huge boost to our defense and improves our depth having Todd Davis come off the bench instead of being a starter.

Well considering he said it himself that he wasn't a great Head Coach and had figured out it was better for him to be a DC I don't think I need to sell you on that as he already flat out said it.
