The fans have set the demand.

That's laughable.........The fans are SHEEP.

That's called capitalism.
NO....that's GREED

and have set the precedent that we are willing to pay top dollar for top quality.
You're definition of "top quality" and my definition of "top quality" are far different. I call it mediocrity.
Players now days, care more about their own personal "BRANDING" and five year "deals" than they care about fans or their so called teams. NFL players hardly practice anymore and it looks like it. The NBA is a three point shooting contest with virtually no defense. And pro athletes want to strike at a drop of a hat.

Yes, they are. This isn't even a debate. It is simply a FACT of free market economics. lol
No......it's called, out of control, runaway greed, and stupidity.

This isn't a cooked up evil scheme by some big corporate fat cat executive or politician... WE, THE FANS have decided this. lol. Nobody else did this... WE DID.
The fans did nothing........They're the gullible and left out in the cold....

Wow, I just somewhat hope you're a kid.
No .......I'm just a DALLAS COWBOY, CHICAGO CUB, and BOSTON CELTIC FAN...........and you would be?
And my being a fan, is more about the past, than it is about the present.......

WHEN IT WAS A GAME

Kenley Jansen made $13,800 per pitch in 2017.

The average American salary (under the age of 65) is
$46,400 a year.

Jansen makes more than an average American makes, in his first FOUR PITCHES.
Good for him!!!

If manufacturer "A" charges $500 for a hammer, consumers have the right NOT TO BUY that hammer,
or go to that store. And of course, owners of major league baseball teams HAVE THE RIGHT NOT TO SIGN players for their outrageous demands in contracts. It's called market adjustment.

Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers is only making $407,000 a tackle........$1,375,000 a sack

Josh Norman of THEE Washed Up Football Team .....$12,500,000 for zero picks........$266,000 per tackle.
But Josh is underpaid for running his mouth.

Lewis Hamilton of the Mercedes Formula One Team is making $2,000,000 a race.

And I'm making zero dollars, for these brilliant, insightful posts........

and I'm overpaid.........

Of course they have the right to do all that. Hence why they are consenting adults.

This is golden age of players salaries. I don't know when but at some point it's going to max out and spiral down. I think leagues know this too. Leagues are trying to speed up everything because they know the younger generations aren't watching sports like they use to. Attention spans aren't like they use to. Tv has made it where going to sports aren't worth it
