This game was like a freaking "Friday Night Lights" episode.

Script Page 1: come out and suck really bad at home during the first half.

Script Page 2: Coach yells at team during halftime. Queue motivational music as the home team rallies from a ridiculous deficit in the 2nd half to make it a 1 TD game late in the 4th quarter. Have the QB pull off an inspirational play to score the game winning TD against a team that should have lost all along.

Anytime you score 44 points and don't win that's completely the defense's fault.

What's odd is you could say losing Charles early probably cost them the game despite the fact they scored 44 points. With Charles in the lineup I would say they were likely good for more then 6 points in the second half.

As well as Alex played, he still did what I expected him to do. Not come from behind and win a game. 3rd and 11 and what does he do?-- A classic alex smith dump off for 6 yds.

Kap has some faults, but Harbaugh made the right call

Alex has some comebacks himself

Awesome game, feel bad for Alex. I hope in some alternate universe he won today, then took down Manning and had an epic SB shoot out against Kaep.

No, I'm not high! Why do you ask?

I blame the kc defense....

Alex had a strong game...

Absolutely, Alex carried that team today running and throwing.

The D was horrid other than luck throwing them the ball. I got a bit worried when Indy scored so fast to make it 38-17, took like one minute. Come on D, you at least have to make them eat up some clock.

Says the guy with a tranquilizer in his neck.

Beautiful picture you painted there for Alex. Brought a tear to my eyes

Alex Smith is the first QB in NFL history with at least 4 Pass TD and 0 interceptions IN A LOSS (via @EliasSports)

That sucks. He got NOTHING from his defense.

So, Smith goes 4-0 TD/INT and loses. Luck goes 4-3 TD/INT and wins.

Crazy game.

Crazy game.

Drew Brees won with 1 TD and 2 INTs, 250 yards. Smith did break 300 - three for 378 and a few deep passes. One more foot in bounds and he'd have 400 and a win. Of course, there are other plays that they could have won the game on, too. And now, I am not comparing Alex Smith to Drew Brees.

I thought the KC defense had been pretty spiffy during the season, so I'm really shocked it was Indy that 40'd em. I thought for SURE it would be Peyton & the Broncos that would throw 45 up against KC.

I still can't believe that fumble for a TD play.

Forgot about the 57 yards rushing.

the whole kc team stalled out in the 2nd half. offense didn't do much and the d basically left the building.

Doesn't matter. 44 points should be enough to get you a win 100% of the time. Its a shame they didn't have Charles at the end when they needed him.

There were 161 yards of passing in the second half plus I don't know how many yards rushing. They only rushed seven times in the second half. So maybe 40 yards rushing (here was one 10-yarder). That's 200 yards in the second-half. They only punted twice. They where passing more than rushing the whole game, but they basically only stopped rushing when their backup runningback was injured. Maybe Reid just needed to trust his third guy more. But they also weren't getting very many yards rushing.

It really had nothing to do with the offense. It was the complete collapse of the defense.
