'Dynasty' is a pretty amorphous term. Sometimes it's obvious, like the late 1990s Yankees...but they won 4 titles in 5 years...3 is pretty close...

Are the late 80s A's a 'dynasty'? Early 70s A's? Are the Yankees (20s-30s, 50s, 90s) the only team that gets to use the term?

Until next week, let's shelf any "dynasty" talk. 3 in 5 is a lot different from 2 in 5. The Cards could claim the throne as well, with 4 straight NLCS appearances, and 7 in 11. How about the Red Sox with 3 championships in 10 years? How about the Braves in the 90s and 00s?

In the NFL, we had the Packers in the 60s, Steelers in the 70s, Niners in the 80s, Cowboys in the 90s and Patriots in the 00s. Would any of those teams stand up to this dynasty discussion? Is there any question that those teams were, in fact, dynasties?
