An injured Carey looked better to me against our defense in the Territorial Cup last year than Melvin Gordon did this year. Not to take anything away from Gordon but Carey is a stud.

You can think that all you want, but once again, numbers disagree with you.

Carey: 25 Carries, 172 Yards (6.9 YPC), 1 TD
Gordon: 15 Carries, 193 Yards (12.9 YPC), 2 TDs

It's not particularly close, either.

If you don't wan't to consider him the best he better not be out of anyone's top 5.

He is actually 13th in rushing yards this year.]

Actually 12th because one above him is a QB

Not sure what stats back it up?

he didn't play in the first game of the season and he's racking some more up right now ... has more yards than anyone in the last 2 years

I'm basing this off the past two years Smart. Gordon is right behind KaDeem for me, can't go wrong either way.

As of last week:

Melvin Gordon 107 car 1012 yds 11 td 9.5 ypc

Lache Seastrunk 83 car 760 yds 10 td 9.2 ypc

Terry Baggett 84 car 768 yds 6 tds 9.1 ypc

Ameer Abdullah 114 car 816 yds 6 tds 7.2 ypc

Jeremy Hill 114 car 774 yds 10 tds 6.8 ypc

Antonio Andrews 152 car 1036 yds 10 tds 6.8 ypc

David Fluellen 149 car 1006 yds 10 tds 6.8 ypc

Byron Marshall 111 car 746 yds 9 tds 6.7 ypc

Mike Davis 132 car 879 yds 10 tds 6.7 ypc

Jordan Lynch(QB) 138 car 932 yds 7 tds 6.8 ypc

Ka'Deem Carey 134 car 805 yds 6 tds 6.0 ypc

Not even top 10, you want to look more at YPC not YPG as one runner may get more carries than another depending on games as well as not all runners have played same number of games.

I think we were talking overall career currently, not just this season.

I used only runners with more than 700 yds for this list and all runners who had a better YPC than Da'Deem who is #55 in the nation in ypc. There are at least 5 more with 600 yds or so back ups mostly. This week so far:

Melvin Gordon -bye-

Lache Seastrunk 13 car 109 yds 1 td 8.4 ypc

Terry Baggett -bye-

Ameer Abdullah 19 car 165 yds 0 td 8.7 ypc

Jeremy Hill 14 car 143 yds 2 td 10.2 ypc

Antonio Andrews 28 car 144 yds 1 td 5.1 ypc 7 rec 125 yds

David Fluellen 3 car 61 yds 0 td 20.3 ypc

Byron Marshall 19 car 133 yds 3 td 7 ypc

Mike Davis 19 car 51 yds 0 td 2.7 ypc 10 rec 99 yds

Jordan Lynch(QB) 18 car 99 yds 1 td 5.5 ypc

Ka'Deem Carey 23 car 119 yds 4 td 5.2 ypc

I only included REC stats for those who had outstanding numbers.

I think I said this earlier but Kadeem probably has the most impressive career numbers for players currently in college. Led the nation last season with nearly 2,000 yards and 23 TDs. He is following that up with another superb season. Keep in mind he missed the first game of the year. He leads all active players in rushing yards per game over his career.

He gets a ton of carries and thus a ton of yards, his YPC is solid but not stunning, TD are solid as well but not stunning considering number of carries. Most accomplished maybe would be a better analysis.

He has certainly shown he can be an every down back and produce solid numbers which should translate well for him in the NFL if he can continue the production there. Much of that will depend on who drafts him though and what kind of line he can get to block for him. He had 40 carries in a game that's just insane, many backs could not handle that type of load. Some don't get the opportunity too because of their surrounding cast or coaching strategy.

seriously, if this dude had gone to alabama he would have already transferred out because he wasn't one of the 4 or 5 best backs on the roster. if you guys think he is good, then maybe the gulf between the SEC and Pac-12 is bigger than i thought

Gordon and Sankey are 1 and 2 for best non-midmajor RBs in country.

Carey is somewhere around the 5-8 spot. He's one of the better in college right now, but not the best. Nada. Nope.
