So we trade Saunders because they are tired of him being injured, but then trade for a guy who missed most of last year due to injuries? #Jackism.

Let's follow Polars lead on this, RIGGLIANO isn't much more than an even swap with Saunders if anything. With that being said, this becomes a minor leaguer traded for Happ in the grand scheme of things. If we can still land another impact bat for RF then all things worked out. If we don't, then I find it a little concerning in the OF. Overall, I like where we are in our rotation, bullpen, and a majority of our lineup. We will compete for a playoff spot with this team, but could truly contend for a WS if we add one more impact bat. :hope:

The answer is in your question............

Year after year injuries popping up is different then one year.......

Except Ruggiano was on the DL twice in 2014, in addition to ending the 2012 season on the DL and another DL stint in August 2011.....so to think he's just had one year of injury concern is incorrect.

One year mentioned doesn't mean that is his only season injured. Plus, a 32 year old coming off of ankle surgery isn't a safer bet than what Saunders went through.

Espn radio on the drive in mentioned Seth Smith in a platoon with Rugs. Now that SD has a dearth of outfielders he could be had pretty cheaply I would think.

Then you play rugs vs lefties who he hits well, smith vs righties who he hits well and you've got yourself a nice little RF situation.

Line up is pretty set, dont need the rf to come in and carry the offense. Just literally be league average and we'd be swimming in gravy.
