Who gets this guy? 24 years old, not even necessarily in his prime yet. Can you imagine him in Yankee stadium with the short porch in right?

SD gives you Soto AND prospects for 2 guys? Yeah that's probably the best offer they'll get.
What’s even crazier is projecting Cleveland would pay a player of Soto’s value. Not happening.

MLB Network has suggested that any deal for Soto with the Yankees must start with Dominguez and at least 1 of their young pitchers. The Yankees have said that is a non-starter.
The Yankees need Soto much more than the Padres need to deal him to them.

The Yankees said that King and Thorpe in the deal wasn't going to happen. I guess they felt that the inclusion of Grisham was enough to get the job done.

Not much more than rental return.

Kings going to be 29 and is only a starting pitcher in theory.

NY. I don't think they'd make this trade if they can't resign him.
That’s what I thought as well. I saw this trade go down and it told me that they’re willing to do what it takes to sign him. I think he slots into a contract similar to what Trout got but maybe a tick below what Ohtani will get. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Soto and Boras skip FA because the Yankees step up immediately and leave no doubt.

^^^Because if they aren’t willing to do this, it becomes a very risky play with a high cost when they really need pitching to be on a win now tomorrow doesn’t matter path.
